Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Hernandez.
Hi Brianna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised here in San Antonio, TX. I’m a proud product of the south side of San Antonio. Before moving away for college at Texas State University, my community was the only thing I had ever known.
Growing up in the southside has instilled hard work, dedication & respect within me which I truly feel has helped me be the business owner I am today. So many of my vendors are southside Latina business owners who have hustled just like I have. I treat each client like they are part of my family & if that event was for me and my family.
Ever since I can remember, my family has always thrown a good party. Growing up, my mom and my aunt would always make sure I had the best of the best parties & always went the extra mile to make them special. I guess it eventually grew on me. I started event planning because several of my friends got engaged and married back in 2020.
I was maid of honor for some of their weddings and I loved planning their bachelorettes and bridal showers. It became so much fun and people started telling me that I should start a business with event planning because they liked my work. One of my best friends Germaine was going to get married & I asked her if I could plan her bachelorette party & she said yes & she would pay me.
I told her she was crazy, I’m not going to charge my friend. She told me that my work deserved money & other people are doing the same thing I am & that she was going to pay me. She was my first paying customer and a loyal friend. I’ll never be able to thank her enough for giving me that push that I needed to start my business. If it wasn’t for her push, I’m not sure I would’ve had the confidence to go all in.
I had no clue where to start or how to start and never thought people I had never met would hire me to be part of their events. I decided to start slowly by creating social media platforms for my business & then by word of mouth I started to receive business. I worked my butt off to make even a small dent in the event world. I truly put myself out there in an industry that already has established people but I knew I needed to at least try.
I hit the ground running, opened up storage units for all my inventory, established relationships with vendors & worked the hardest I ever have to not only make my clients happy but to truly believe in myself that I GOT THIS. I CAN DO THIS.
Since starting, I have established myself here in San Antonio, built my inventory, built relationships with the best vendors that I could possibly ask to work with, obtained my LLC & learned so much about the event industry.
God has truly blessed me with everything that I have gone through to get where I am today and to build the clientele relationship that I have, grateful is an absolute understatement.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not.
In the beginning, my clientele was people I knew, I had to learn how to manage the financial side of a business, I was undercharging, figuring out how to price things reasonably yet correctly since the industry is competitive as it is. I give up all of my free time to plan events down to the finest of details, meet with clients, and speak with vendors.
If you ask any of my family members or friends, I’m always going 100mph, working and hustling nonstop. My mind is always on the next thing to do or the next thing I could be doing to help my business grow.
Last year was a year of growing pains, so many crazy things happened but by the grace of God, I’m here and I have grown so much as an individual and my business has grown even more so.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Puro Parties?
My business is called Puro Parties.
I named it that because I truly believe that life is a party and it deserves to be celebrated for every single significant life event whether it’s a baby shower, bridal shower, birthday, etc, I’m here for it and I’m down to plan anything my client wants.
I love bringing clients’ themes to life with their ideas & my creativity. I specialize in event planning so I basically take care of planning either the entire event for the customer or even if they just need certain items, I help them at their request. I also offer a set up of snack tables, marquee letters, flower walls, and luxury picnics coming soon.
I think what sets me apart from others is how important details are to me. My clients are important to me and I love getting to know them and what means the most to them so I can incorporate that down to the finest of details to make their event that much more special.
Also my passion, I truly love what I do. I have a full-time 8-5 job and I do event planning after work and all weekend, it’s my creative outlet and I’m so grateful God has let me explore that outlet this past year.
Any big plans?
My dream one day is to open my own venue and hire all of the vendors that have been with me since the beginning so they always have my business committed to them.
I would love to have my venue, plan the event for the client, and include all of my vendors to create spectacular events.
