

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Lattimore.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was in the service and bar industry for 18 years…a long time. I loved all aspects of running a business but I knew that I wanted more for myself. I wanted to be my own boss because I definitely knew that I could do a great job managing a the right crew. I came across Cheba Hut on a young entrepreneur’s website… I was so drawn to the raw lifestyle that I knew the brand could provide.
“No script. No bullshit.” Type of thing. It’s definitely the type of environment that cultivates originality and growth.
My grandmothers were definitely two women that inspired me to open up Cheba Hut. Everything from their work ethic and courage to loyalty and love allowed for me to learn take that familiar energy and become inspired to grow towards better things. Things that I knew aligned with my beliefs and lifestyle more…
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s had its ups and downs being a first time business owner.
It’s a bigger responsibility than people would think. You take on multiple roles; Mom, co-owner, manager, life coach, therapist, plumber, you name it… You have to establish and prioritize what is important to you.
It’s definitely time consuming and energetically draining. As a woman, you learn to assert yourself. You learn that not everyone will take you seriously literally because of what you look like. That’s why I adore Cheba Hut. We’re a family and we all respect one another.
Aside from that, we opened the shop in June of 2021 so we for sure experienced the effects of the pandemic. Ya know like being understaffed and the evolving economy has been a challenge.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs?
I co-own the Cheba Hut here in San Antonio. It’s a marijuana themed sub shop. We’re super passionate about being a genuine, being integrated in art culture and with our community while providing high quality food in a comfortable and chill environment. You can definitely come to the shop and see all of our employees working in the open kitchen. We’re open 12 hours a day from 10 Am- 10 Pm. You can relax and study at the bar, drink a Hash Can, have some pretzel nugs. It’s a blast and a safe space for the 420 community. We also host Trivia on Tuesdays so if you wanna have a good time with your friends or family you’re more than welcome to.
What matters most to you?
My crew for sure. The only way that I can achieve success in this business is if my employees have a healthy environment. Also, the health and success of my employees is key. I find that if I take care of my employees there’s so much more respect and love in the work environment which I find to be very rewarding. It’s important for me to set an example for my crew and have a healthy mindset and attitude because that energy rubs off.
