Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon Stewart of All My Sons Self Defense LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Stewart.

Hi Brandon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised on the East side of San Antonio, TX; my upbringing was typical of a young black boy without guidance. As a young man growing up, I was exposed to a life of crime and violence from an early age. It was in October 2007 that I experienced a very pivotal moment that would later become my inspiration. Long story short, I had a temporary lapse of judgment—police found me possessing an unauthorized firearm I had bought from a family friend. By the Grace and Mercy of God, I was released with no charges and could avoid any blemishes to my record. I realized from then on that I wanted very much to become a responsible citizen and Gun-Owner. I first sparked an interest in firearm safety in 2012 after taking an LTC course from a man named Robert, who later became my mentor. It was Robert who made me truly realize the importance of becoming a responsible gun owner, understanding the law, and knowing my rights. I maintained a relationship with Robert since taking the course until he passed in 2020.

The more I studied, the more my passion for firearm safety grew. It was in 2017 when I first conveyed to my wife my aspirations to instruct others and share the knowledge I acquired on gun safety with as many people as I could. I feel like a lot of people who are new or current gun owners need to be equipped with the knowledge of self-defense. In 2021, now a 35-year-old father of six, I became certified as a USCCA firearms instructor. Thus, All My Sons Self-Defense, LLC was born. Everyone should take my classes because they need someone to tell them the truth and train them in the right way. This is my passion. Emphasizing safety and responsibility is my way of honoring God, who has given me these skills to share with others.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It has been challenging. Being a new business owner is difficult– understanding the marketing side of things (rapid inflation means fewer folks spending), as well as trying to reach people where they are in a very politically charged culture regarding guns. We have had some adverse responses along the way, but we believe in our mission and vision- to honor God by equipping citizens with the knowledge of self-defense, should they ever need it. We value safety and responsibility above all else, so we keep pushing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about All My Sons Self Defense LLC?
All My Sons Self Defense is locally owned and operated. We are a small family business (my wife and I) specializing in all things’ Firearms Safety’ and Firearms Training. We conduct licensing (LTC), beginner’s, and women’s classes. Home defense classes, and more. We are a Black-Owned business. Our faith influences everything we do and how we conduct our business. We value family, people, and relationships. We are very proud of the fact that we are a family business (hence the name), and we have a goal of being able to grow our company, purchase our land and build our range, and one day pass the reigns of the business to our children, should they so choose. We want everyone to feel important when they come to one of our classes. We value excellence, and as stated before, we value relationships, so our first meeting with you won’t be the last! We always keep an ongoing relationship with each of our clients.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
One word is GROWTH; we still hold jobs outside our small business (I am a dispatcher/CDL driver, and my wife works per diem as a family nurse practitioner). We intend to build our brand, grow our clientele, and one day have our own range/storefront doing this full time.
