Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that play is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. It’s something we all share — that feeling of laughter, curiosity, and connection that comes when we let go and just play.
But somewhere along the way, most of us grew out of it. Our days filled with meetings, deadlines, and screens, and the idea of “team-building” started to feel forced instead of fun. I saw how many group activities were missing the mark — awkward icebreakers, stiff games, moments that didn’t feel real. I knew it could be different.
That’s why I started ReadySet Game Co., right here in New Braunfels, Texas. I wanted to make connection-building effortless — experiences that are meaningful, inclusive, and actually fun. What started as small local events has grown into something much bigger: creative, laughter-filled experiences that help people be present, be real, and reconnect — whether it’s coworkers, families, or friends.
Because play reminds us that connection doesn’t have to be complicated — it just has to be real.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building ReadySet Game Co. has been incredibly rewarding — but not without challenges. One of the biggest has been helping people see that “team building” can actually be fun and meaningful, not awkward or forced. I’ve also had to learn how to grow while keeping every experience personal and hands-on, which takes constant balance and intention. There have been long days and steep learning curves, but every challenge has made me more creative, grounded, and grateful for the connections this work creates.

We design and facilitate custom games and events that spark laughter, connection, and genuine presence. From corporate retreats and conferences to family gatherings, reunions, and celebrations, every experience is built to help people really connect — not through forced activities, but through play that feels natural, inclusive, and unforgettable.
We’re known for turning the idea of “team building” on its head. Our approach is creative, flexible, and rooted in human connection — no awkward icebreakers or trust falls, just shared experiences that get people talking, laughing, and working together. We offer both DIY game kits (for those who want to run their own event) and full-service experiences where we handle everything from design and setup to facilitation and cleanup.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is learning to play poker with my grandma when I was five. She taught me how to bluff before I could even spell it. My family took cards everywhere we went — vacations, road trips, you name it. Games were always at the center of our time together, and I was wildly competitive even back then. Looking back, I think that’s where my love for play — and connection through games — really began.
