Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Santiago
Hi Angel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from the nation’s Capital region, my wife and I wanted to find a more affordable option for our family to grow as she started a new business, Family ADDventures, inspired to serve families and individuals navigating life with ADHD & Autism. For roughly 18 years I owned a mobile event entertainment business and was the CMO at a prominent talent agency. She was a school teacher and quit ten years later to start the business. After a while, the thought of a new adventure with our kids and going all in on the family business became too tempting.
In 2019, we moved to San Antonio and have fallen in love with this city again and again over the last five years.
My wife has continued to see tremendous growth and success with the family business, and has done some truly amazing work! I am proud to hold the position of Creative Director for Family ADDventures and cherish the opportunities to work side-by-side on ideas and projects with her.
I also work in the Corporate Events industry as a Strategic Business Development Manager for an events production agency operating nationwide. My passion for food and people led me to start my Instagram foodie page (@angelfooddude), opening many new doors after relocating. The page is my way of helping others discover my favorite businesses while expressing my creativity. Nowadays, I get the occasional free meal for a reel but I’ve also partnered with several places in more creative and elaborate ways, which I love!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being the new people in town is never easy. And promoting your new business in that same town, even harder!
It took a while for people to understand what Family ADDventures is or what it meant to be a Child/Education Advocate. We volunteered our time at local events, connected and collaborated with other business owners, and gave back to our new community as much as we could. Slowly but surely, parents, families, and schools began reaching out with questions and interest. We know once someone sees how transformative our services can be for their child it’s a no-brainer.
There will always be the struggle of cost and affordability. As people learn about our services, they sometimes struggle to work it into their budget. They know they need the service but all families balance expenses and are forced to make tough decisions. What we do isn’t expensive, it’s something new that people have not traditionally accounted for when budgeting family expenses. But once we do our free consultation with the family and they see their child’s interest in what we can do for them, it usually leads to a new client and a happy ending in the making.
As you know, we’re big fans of Family ADDventures. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
