Today we’d like to introduce you to Aidee Rosado
Hi Aidee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As an Acute Care Occupational Therapist, I had spent years evaluating patients after abdominal surgeries, ensuring they could safely care for themselves once discharged. Yet, when I unexpectedly had a C-section, no one thought to refer me for rehab. And in those early postpartum days, I couldn’t even advocate for myself.
Between the insomnia, the fatigue, and the struggle to feed my baby because my milk wasn’t coming in, I felt like I a hot mess. Every time I stood up, I was getting dizzy. I knew this was not normal, but I had to keep going! Or at least, that’s what I thought. My mom had to help me shower and I was sitting down the whole time. I remember sitting in the car, staring at my beautiful baby girl, overwhelmed with love yet terrified—how was I going to take care of her when I could barely take care of myself?
Then my next challenge came: the stairs. My husband carried the car seat up to our second-floor apartment, but I was left to make the climb alone. Five minutes. That’s how long it took me to get up those steps, taking rest breaks between every few steps, losing my breath, my incision burning, my head spinning. Being home meant that I had a whole baby to take care of now. I didn’t even know how to take care of myself yet and now I’m responsible for a baby, ANOTHER human. I would be lying if I said I handled everything like a champ. It took years to get out of survival mode. And I didn’t want another single mother waiting for YEARS to feel like she could finally embrace motherhood.
I was fortunate to have my training as an Occupational Therapist to guide me through the physical recovery process. It really made me hone into the skills that I had developed as an Occupational Therapist to use activities of daily living as my main intervention. Most mothers don’t feel they have the time to do the things they need to for themselves because of their other roles: being a worker, wife, friend, daughter. When overwhelm hits, you can’t get a bird’s eye view of the whole picture of what is the most important. Learning to reorganize my schedule, finding ways to optimize my fitness while doing laundry or taking care of my baby, and listening to my nervous system to have enough energy to do the things that I love. But what about the women who don’t? It struck me—no one had asked if I felt ready to go home, what tasks I was afraid of doing, how I felt about my unexpected surgery. No one had checked if I could manage basic tasks, let alone care for a newborn.
Why aren’t we offering this kind of care for postpartum women? Babies see their pediatricians at least seven times in their first year, yet mothers are expected to wait six weeks for a single postpartum check-up. And by then, the symptoms are only just beginning.
Our current system does not support women who have children. Time and time again, I saw gaps in care—mothers falling through the cracks, left to navigate their recovery alone or just given handouts to read during their “downtime”. Traditional models of medical care aren’t serving every mother, especially those from marginalized communities who face even greater barriers to care.
As a fierce advocate for social justice and equity within the maternal health space, I knew I had to do more. The disparities in postpartum care aren’t just frustrating—they are unacceptable. Every woman deserves access to the knowledge, support, and care needed to heal and thrive after childbirth, regardless of her background or circumstances.
This passion led me to create virtual services aimed at increasing pelvic health literacy and advocacy for women. By providing accessible education and resources, I empower mothers to understand their bodies, recognize when they need help, and confidently advocate for their own well-being.
Too often, we pour everything into our children and lose sight of ourselves in the process. That’s where I come in.
I work with mothers to reclaim their strength, independence, and well-being—taking a deep dive into their daily activities, social support, mobility, strength, coordination, and mental health. Together, we co-create a plan that fits their life, their goals, and brings them the relief they need.
Motherhood is a transformation—a rebirth of its own. My mission is to ensure that every mother, no matter where she is or what challenges she faces, has the tools, support, and advocacy she deserves. Because caring for your child should never mean losing yourself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a business while managing a family with small children, working, and trying to maintain my own well-being has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I was diagnosed with ADHD during this journey so it really spiced things up.
The biggest struggle was feeling like I was doing the right thing for my family and me. I wanted to be able to be as present as possible with my family AND I wanted to be able to impact women in a way that aligned my values.
In my attempts to find the right path, I worked alongside incredible and knowledgeable colleagues where I was able to gain valuable experience and insight into different approaches to maternal care. I realized that my vision for maternal health extended beyond what was traditionally offered.
I wanted to create something more holistic—something that not only addressed physical healing but also the emotional, mental, and social aspects of postpartum life. I saw the need for a deeper, more personalized level of support, one that empowered women with education, advocacy, and tools tailored to their unique journeys.
It took a lot of trial and error, but each experience helped me refine my mission and solidify what I wanted to build. Rather than trying to fit into an existing system, I decided to create something that fully aligned with my values—one that prioritizes both the mother and child, ensures equitable access to care, and helps women navigate postpartum with confidence and support.
We’ve been impressed with Crescent Pelvic Health and Wellness, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in postpartum recovery and maternal wellness, providing holistic, functional, and evidence-based support for mothers navigating the physical and emotional changes after childbirth. As an Occupational Therapist with a deep passion for maternal health advocacy, I focus on helping women regain strength, mobility, and confidence in their daily lives while addressing the often-overlooked aspects of postpartum recovery.
What sets me apart is my program, Embodied Motherhood/Maternidad Anclada, which is a personalized, mother-centered approach—I don’t just focus on one aspect of recovery, but rather take a comprehensive look at physical healing, mental well-being, daily function, and social support. I recognize that every mother’s experience is unique, so I work closely with each client to develop customized plans that fit seamlessly into their lifestyle, ensuring they receive the care and guidance they truly need.
I’m particularly proud of how my brand is helping to increase pelvic health literacy and advocacy. I’ve had the great opportunity of collaborating with others in the birth/postpartum space where I can connect organizations and women based on their goals and needs. Many women don’t realize how deeply childbirth impacts their bodies, and unfortunately, postpartum care often falls short in equipping them with the tools to recover fully. With the maternal mortality rate impacting the Black and Brown community as much as it does, it is imperative that our community has access to this potentially lifesaving information. That’s why I offer virtual services, making expert guidance accessible and convenient, no matter where a mother is located. I have a tiered payment system and a la carte sessions to be able to meet this goal. My services aim to bridge the gap in postpartum care, ensuring that women feel supported, heard, and empowered to take charge of their recovery.
Ultimately, my mission is to change the way we approach maternal health and postpartum recovery. Through education, advocacy, and tailored care, I strive to help mothers feel strong, confident, and well-supported in their journey—because taking care of yourself is necessary to show up as your most authentic self in motherhood and well, life.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, some of my fondest memories were the trips my family and I would take to Mexico to visit my grandparents and extended family. The journey itself was always an adventure—9 hour long car rides filled with music and anticipation of getting a agua mineral preparada and my favorite snacks. No matter how late we would arrive, my grandmother was receiving us with open arms and cortadillo recien hecho. Both sets of grandparents lived 2 blocks away so it was easy to go back and forth to spend time with them.
Spending time in Mexico was more than just a visit—it was a connection to my roots and the culture that shaped me. I would spend afternoons bike riding to the outskirts of the town, and then sit outside the patio in rocking chairs listening to the stories the women shared. Those moments instilled in me a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and the importance of community—values that continue to guide me in my work today.
Looking back, I realize how much those experiences influenced the way I care for others. My family in Mexico always showed me the importance of supporting one another, ensuring no one felt alone, and embracing life’s transitions together. That sense of nurturing, togetherness, and resilience is what I strive to bring into my work with mothers—helping them feel seen, supported, and empowered as they navigate the incredible transformation of motherhood.
