Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Tetreault.
Hi Wendy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After a long term career as an administrative assistant and a homemaker for the past 16 years, I’ve never been satisfied with my work life. I always thought something was missing and long for a change that would make my life complete and satisfying.
When the economy crashed in 2008, it also tore apart my long time marriage. The business built by my husband and I was swallowed up in the economic storm. Since I had been a homemaker for so many years, I had extreme difficulty pursuing a career in my administrative field, which I was so skilled in for many years before I had committed to being a homemaker.
This caused a build-up of stress which led to a myriad of problems: muscle stiffness, loss of quality of sleep, depression, headaches and digestive issues, taking an overall toll on my well-being.
Fate threw me a break when I was at a home show event where I came across a Chiropractors booth. I ended up with 4 months of massage. therapy. I was amazed how my overall wellness improved with massages, I finally was able to heal my body, mind and spirit. I have always had a passion for helping people and through my own health issues wanted to pursue a career which can holistically help me improve my quality life, giving me more confidence and a deeper sense of well-being, while helping others achieve total wellness.
Another driving force for my decision to pursue a massage career was my ailing mother who I supported and cared for. She was suffering for many years with chronic health conditions.
Having difficulties completing daily tasks, I wanted to help her by relieving some of her stress and pain, so she can be more comfortable during her senior years.
Realizing that is where I needed to be, I started massage school and during the last couple of months, the Chiropractor hired me to work for him. During my employment I had a bad car accident and was receiving massages 3 days a week,, I went from being black and blue and on crutches, to returning to doing massages at work in three weeks. I realized the overall importance of medical massage and that I was going to perfect my craft and make a difference in people’s lives.
After two years, I went on my own working with Chiropractors and Physical Therapists.
Unfortunately, Covid happened and I decided that my family and I needed change. We came to visit my Nephew in Texas and realized that this is where we were meant to be.
We moved to Texas in February 2021 in the San Antonio area and I started working at a company and also doing mobile work, while I built my cliente.
As of November 2021, I am renting a space at 11930 Starcrest Drive, Suite #108 within the Tree of Life Wellness Center where I will be teaching classes and working towards being a Wellness Coach also.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
NO, Covid made it difficult because I was not able to work in Illinois for 4 and a 1/2 months. When I made the decision to move to Texas, the housing market made it difficult to get a home. We ended up taking an apartment until we got settled. It also took 2 months to transfer my license because of skeleton crews back home. Being a single mom, moving to a new state during a pandemic and not knowing anybody was challenging. I had to figure out how to build clients and creative ways to network.
As you know, we’re big fans of Oasis Massage and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

I always believe in being the best I can be and I am always thinking of ways to improve myself and my business, “thinking outside the box” I believe in living my dream come true, which sometimes requires taking huge risks and relying on faith and God’s guidance. I’m not one to shy from taking a big risk, like starting over and moving to Texas without knowing people or uncertainties of a career when I came here. I know that whatever I put my mind to I can achieve and mindset and positivity is everything.
