Today we’d like to introduce you to Tryce Lempar.
Hi Tryce, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tryce Lempar I’m the CEO of Blue Shore Media Group; My story has never followed a traditional path. Before entering the media industry, I was a Monster Energy athlete competing in motocross, an experience that introduced me at a young age to the power of branding, audience connection, and lifestyle-driven marketing. When that chapter of my life ended due to a career ending injury, I began looking for the next thing I could build with that same level of passion, intensity, and drive.
That journey ultimately led me to media.
I founded Reggae Rocks Kendall County with a simple idea: create a radio station that actually felt like the community it served. I wanted something different from traditional radio a station with personality, great music, local news and information, and a genuine connection to the businesses and people of the Texas Hill Country.
Reggae Rocks Kendall County grew into a recognizable local media brand, developing strong relationships with listeners, businesses, and advertisers throughout the Hill Country. More importantly, it demonstrated the opportunity that exists when local media is built around community, personality, and authentic connection.
That success became the foundation for Blue Shore Media Group.
I founded Blue Shore Media Group with a much larger vision: to build one of the fastest-growing independent media groups in the Texas Hill Country and expand that model across Texas.
Reggae Rocks Kendall County is our first radio brand, but our vision extends far beyond a single station. Blue Shore Media Group is being built as a diversified media company spanning radio, digital media, advertising, and out-of-home advertising. We’re creating community-driven media brands while developing new ways for businesses to connect with audiences across multiple platforms.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the experienced people who have believed in what we’re building and contributed their knowledge along the way. That includes Janis Maxymof, former sales manager for San Antonio’s KISS Rocks, who works directly with our team and brings decades of radio and media experience to the table.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is that you don’t have to follow the traditional path into an industry to make an impact in it. I didn’t come into media through a major broadcasting corporation or spend decades working my way through traditional radio. I came into it with an idea, learned relentlessly, surrounded myself with experienced people, took risks, and built.
Today, Blue Shore Media Group represents that bigger vision. We’re building a Texas media company designed for the future of local media combining the reach of radio, the flexibility of digital, the visibility of out-of-home advertising, and most importantly, the power of genuine community connection.
We’re not building just another radio station.
We’re building a media company.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has also become one of my greatest advantages: I didn’t come from a traditional media or broadcasting background.
When I started Reggae Rocks Kendall County, I didn’t have decades of radio experience, a major media corporation behind me, or a blueprint showing me exactly what to do. I had nothing but a vision for what local media could be and the determination to figure out how to build it.
That meant learning nearly every side of the business firsthand from programming and broadcasting to advertising, sales, marketing, technology, branding, and building relationships throughout the community. There were plenty of moments when something didn’t work the first time, and I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is often about solving the next problem before anyone else even knows there is one.
Another challenge has been earning credibility in an established industry while doing things differently. We’re competing for attention and advertising dollars alongside companies that have been in media for decades. Instead of trying to become another version of traditional radio, we’ve focused on what makes us different: being independent, moving quickly, taking creative risks, staying deeply connected to our community, and creating advertising partnerships that feel authentic.
I’ve also learned the importance of surrounding myself with people who know more than I do. Working with experienced media professionals and listening to our advertisers, listeners, mentors, and community partners has helped turn challenges into opportunities and made Blue Shore Media Group stronger.
My background in motocross also shaped how I approach those challenges. Racing taught me that setbacks are part of pursuing something ambitious. You adjust, learn, and keep moving forward.
Building Blue Shore Media Group hasn’t been about following an established playbook. It’s been about creating our own and proving that a new generation of independent local media can compete, grow, and make an impact.
We’ve been impressed with Blue Shore Media Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Today, my primary focus is building and leading Blue Shore Media Group, a Texas-based media company operating community-driven radio and advertising platforms with a growing presence across the Texas Hill Country.
Our flagship station, Reggae Rocks Kendall County, combines reggae, ska, and rock with local news, weather, sports, community information, and personality-driven programming. We’ve built the station around a simple philosophy: local media should actually feel local. Our listeners know the personalities behind the microphones, our team knows the businesses we work with, and we’re actively involved in the communities we serve.
What I’m most excited about now is expanding that model through Blue Shore Media Group. Our vision extends beyond radio into digital media and out-of-home advertising, including billboard opportunities, while continuing to develop additional media brands and markets across Texas.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I think the biggest shift in media will be the continued breakdown of the walls between traditional and digital platforms. Radio won’t simply be radio, billboards won’t simply be billboards, and digital advertising won’t exist in its own separate world. The strongest media companies will bring all of those platforms together.
Audiences are already consuming content everywhere through mobile apps, streaming platforms, smart speakers, connected vehicles, social media, and traditional channels. At the same time, advertisers increasingly expect their campaigns to be targeted, measurable, and integrated across multiple touchpoints.
I believe local media has a tremendous opportunity in that environment. Technology can provide incredible reach and measurement, but it can’t replace genuine community connection. The companies that can combine modern technology with trusted local brands will have a major advantage.
We’re building Blue Shore Media Group around that future. Our vision is to operate across radio, digital media, advertising, and out-of-home, including billboards, while continuing to develop community-driven media brands across Texas. Rather than being dependent on one platform, we want to give audiences and advertisers multiple ways to interact with our brands.
Ultimately, I believe the next generation of successful media companies will be smaller, faster, more creative, and much more integrated than the traditional model. That’s exactly the kind of company we’re building with Blue Shore Media Group.
