Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Pritchard.
Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
After a knee injury, while playing college soccer my senior year, I began working in a clothing boutique. Every week work included photoshoots to advertise their clothing. This is where I discovered the world of spray tanning and was hooked! I loved how fast the tans took to achieve a beautiful, bronzed glow!
Furthermore, I wasn’t subjecting my body to sun damage in the process. After about 15 spray tans, my co-worker and I decided to invest in our own spray tan equipment and try spraying ourselves. We loved it! Shortly thereafter many of our friends started asking us for spray tans and we decided to start our own mobile spray tanning business. Our first company started in March of 2019 in College Station, Texas where we were charging $10 a tan.
Our clientele grew quickly. Upon graduation from college, we split the business and started our own. It was at this time Tans by Taylor LLC started. Since starting spray tanning 3+ years ago, I have sprayed over 4,400 clients! Tans by Taylor LLC has now grown to offer self-tanning skin care products, tans by Taylor merchandise, and a clothing line.
From small beginnings, my social media following is now over 4k and growing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road.
I remember one period of time where I only tanned one girl in THREE MONTHS!
During those months, I was spending my time trying a million different products on myself to see which one I liked best, growing my Instagram, working on my brand, and giving away free tans in exchange for content and advertising.
Everyone has to start somewhere!

I keep track of all my previous brides as well as my future brides and I am always so thankful they trust me to tan them for their big day. We just want everyone reading this to know that you are beautifully and wonderfully made and all skin is beautifully tanned or not.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned throughout my spray tanning journey is that spray tans are much more than a surface-level beauty service. Spray tans are more like liquid courage applied directly to your skin.
Over the past three years, there have been a few really special moments that stand out to me as a spray tan artist. I had one client come back in after her first tan and tell me she wore shorts for the first time in two years. Another client of mine told me she stopped wearing makeup on her face for the two weeks she had a spray tan after not being able to go out in public without makeup on since high school.
She just turned 24. Lastly, just this past week I received a message from a client saying, “after getting my tan I fell in love with myself again.” The glow a Tan by Tay gives enhances natural beauty and encourages people to embrace and love the body that they’re in.
