Hi Sheri, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
Residential mortgage structuring is an ART! Rick and I met in 2014, working side by side, building his mortgage business. By this time, he had been in the mortgage industry for 10 years, and I had been a Realtor for 9 years. Our different areas of expertise balanced each other and brought different perspectives to the mortgage industry. His loan knowledge was immense, and my knowledge of the real estate process and borrower expectations created a team whose goals were changed; to focus strictly on our borrowers and real estate partners. When people become your focus, everything else falls into place. After 4 years as business partners, we decided to go out on our own and create our mortgage branch where our focus was completely on our customers. We could envision and implement a process that celebrates this relationship. We overhauled the entire residential mortgage process and have continuously worked to better this process for the benefit of our clients. “We believe in servanthood, advocating for and educating our customers for Life Services. We want to create a well-rounded borrower who understands their purchase and all available real estate finance options. We focus on extreme customer service and outstanding (extraordinary) communication with all parties.”

We started as a small 3-person team in 2019 and grew to over 19 people in 2023. As a team, we closed over $436M in mortgage loans and have been consistently a top-ranked branch nationally. We value our mortgage partners and their choice of employment. When we started growing, we made different decisions on the kind of branch we wanted to become and how we would grow culturally – first. We knew we valued passionate people and wanted to create a branch with a common goal, similar passion for people, and be able to cherish each partner. It is easy to create a team of similar minds, but the real growth is being able to listen to all perspectives and come up with plausible solutions that truly solve problems for everyone. Listening became our key.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
The promise to our partners to adapt and overcome has been difficult. We went through all the challenges of starting independently and deciding who we were and wanted to become—building new systems that needed to be tried, challenged, and changed. Then, create a scalable model that we could build a happy and successful team around. Then the COVID challenge, and now the rate environment and recession challenges. After every obstacle and challenge, we have learned and grown. It hasn’t always been easy, but when you put things in perspective and focus on people, it all seems to work out the way it should. Working hard helps as well.
