Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbin Kelton.
Hi Robbin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 24 years as a hairstylist and lash artist. Been working independently for the past 4 years. I love what I do and being able to transform people’s lives with changing their hairstyle, haircut or lashes. How I go into podcasting was I met the owner of the podcast platform at a networking event in 2020. She did a drawing to get a free spot on her podcast. I won the drawing, did my first ever podcast appearance in November 2020. She asked me to come on to her platform to do my own podcast in March 2021. The Mamapreneur Podcast premiered its first episode on April 8, 2021. 22 episodes later, I am loving every bit of being a podcaster and talking about being a Mama in Entrepreneurship while showcasing female entrepreneurs and their businesses each episode.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is nothing easy about Entrepreneurship. With the salon, it’s making sure that you do an amazing job each time that client comes in so they can come back and refer others. As far as the podcast, it’s the same thing. Doing a great show so more people can watch each episode so they can tell others about it and maybe one day be a guest on the show.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mamapreneur Podcast. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The podcast caters to female based businesses. We talk a lot about work/life balance as a mom and an entrepreneur. Educate on business and each guest that is spotlighted bring some special to each episode. They are educating us on their line of work and their “Why” on why they do what they do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’d say it’s been good luck with my life and business. This podcast not only has helped people but has been such a blessing in my life because I get to network with other female bosses who are getting out there and making it happen in their businesses.
