I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road to success is always bumpy. I have had my challenges as all do. Running your own business especially as a physician as most physicians are not well trained to run a business. Divorce was the downfall of my super success. After 22 years of my e husband running my business, I had to do it on my own.

Many people found their way to take advantage and after embezzlement and bankruptcy, I was able to just take the lesson and find the energy to start over. I also faced significant health issues in obesity and rheumatoid arthritis faced renal failure and cancer. I lost 162lbs and regained my health and self-esteem. My health issues brought Integrative or Functional Medicine to my life. I have lost my entire family but have found refuge and was taken in by my ex-husband’s family.

I also have had three beautiful children, although I actually died during the birth of my middle. I have faced death many times but am no longer afraid I have become something I never thought I could be confident and loving of myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of Pinkston Medical & Wellness Clinic. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Family Practitioner and after 25 years I have seen over 40k people in San Antonio and beyond. After 10 years of practice and owning my own practice I became very ill developing Rheumatoid Arthritis. I found Integrative Medicine and entered a fellowship and learned a whole new style and passion for medicine. Developed a weight loss program and natural hormone replacement program. I opened a spa called Wellness 4 Life and became a premier anti-aging and weight loss center as well as treating autoimmune disease.

I closed Wellness in a bitter divorce but have reopened as Pinkston Medical and Wellness Clinic providing medical care as a family practitioner again but with an Integrative edge and continued to master all diseases such as metabolic- weight, cholesterol, diabetes, and endocrine- GYN and hormones and thyroid and adrenals- autoimmune disease, asthma and allergies, mental health, anti-aging and prevention wellness and screening, and sexual health. I do it all and love it.

I have a radio program on 930 The Answer and podcast to YouTube and iTunes and all podcast platforms found at drpbetterlife.com and the Healthy Choices Radio Network on XM. I am writing books and expanding my skills and knowledge daily and becoming a public figure on many boards and charities. I speak and am a board member for Global Pain Association at globalpain.org and facilitate the Pain Warriors Support Group. I teach students and have over 10,000 teaching hours. I am also Health Editor for SA Monthly Magazine in San Antonio

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My plans are to expand my clinic into a medical spa, publish books on self-esteem and surviving life’s difficulties as well as weight loss and women’s health, and more.

I will expand my radio and podcasts to a national level have my brand and unusual approaches to many medical, social and spiritual issues and mental health issues in solving people’s everyday pressures and problems. Rule the world… it truly is possible.

I want to educate and share my passion and help bring medical care back to art and an individual unique practice instead of the current corporate recipe algorithm style that is so cold and ineffective.
