Exploring Life & Business with LeighAnn LaFour Krueger of LaFours Restaurant

Today we’d like to introduce you to LeighAnn LaFour Krueger.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 1983 my grandparents decided to follow my uncle (who was playing for the Schreiner Golf team) to the Hill Country. My great grandmother came too and her recipes were the initial staples for the restaurant. 42 years and 2 generations later, we’ve made the move from Kerrville to Boerne, grown from a family of 7 to a family of 14, after the passing of a few. Our family recipes like gumbo and etouffee are house favorites. My daughter is now old enough to work as well and loves being around all the people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak. It will tax you patience, your spirit, and your fortitude.
No matter what the economy looks like, bills are always due and there’s never enough applicants to fill every position but determination, grit, and the grace and goodness of God have gotten us through all of it together.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a family owned and operated generational restaurant of 42 years, we have more invested than just a business operation. Our heritage, our history, and our identities themselves are tied into the plates we serve and friendships we have built over all this time. We specialize in cajun and southern seafood, and our kitchen makes everything to your order. There’s never food sitting and waiting to be picked out. We pride ourselves in serving beautiful, quality American products like Channel Catfish and Texas shrimp- no swai, no basa. no white shrimp.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being able to balance faith, family, and work. Having the ability to hand something to your children that is bigger and older than yourself like a heritage than has seen not only generations of employees but generations of customers who can come and share their own memories and are able to pass them down to their children as well.
Success is also knowing that you are able to line your goals and practices to your walk with the Lord and bring that to others.
