Today we’d like to introduce you to Koby Morris.
Hi Koby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started actively marketing and advertising Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services in July of 2022. After facing some adversity and growing into a new brand, we focused extremely hard and were very intentional with our orders of operation and consistency of service. In the Spring of 2023, I set a date to quit my full time blue collar job to focus solely on building the company and brand. No matter where we were at financially with the company, I was going to quit my job and pour all of my focus into the future of Southern Standard. I believe that when a God fearing, driven individual gets backed into a corner, the potential result can be of significance.
I decided that our main focus points would exist of three parts. The first is arriving not just on-time, but early to every event no matter how big or small it may be to ensure that we have ample time to set up an efficient and fluid bar space. Second, the focus should not only be on ourselves when on-location, but making sure that we have the time and ability to try and help other professionals involved with with the event to ensure that the overall health of the day is at it’s best. Doing a great job for the clients who hired you and their guest is important but, you may only receive one or two referrals from that group of people. If you do a consistently good job for the professionals and the people who allow you to operate at their facility, those other vendors and owners could potentially put you in front of hundreds of potential clients. Lastly, the third main focus is on consistency. We are not a staffing company that sends out bartenders with materials and tells them “Good luck and have fun”. We have a group of team leads and supervisors that we send out that are accompanied by bartenders to ensure that we can execute the same orders of operation and withould our company standards at every event. It is not just a job to be hired for a special event. We consider it a privilege to be a part of someone else’s dedication, heartfelt sentiment, and the hard work that goes into organizing the event we are attending.
It has been an honor to have been a part of over 750+ events since 2022. We could not be were we are today without the amazing team and office staff that we have behind Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services. I give all of the glory to God as he has given us many blessings over the company by showing us the way. God has given us the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and build strong, trusting relationships. I truly love what we do and creating an impressionable service for once in a lifetime events is our passion. We look forward to the future of Southern Standard and the relationships that we are going to build.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Adversity and challenges will always try and stand in the way of something great. When you are growing as a person and a brand, there will always be an outside pressure that tries to get you to throw in the towel. I truly believe that when you feel like things are getting really hard and there are many challenges standing in front of you, it is because you are on the cusp of a breakthrough. Nothing that is worth talking about in life comes easy. The harder you work and the more dedication that you put into anything will always make the reward greater. Stretching your threshold and ability is at utmost importance when the road seems to get a little rough.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services is and on-location beverage catering and bartending company that specializes in weddings, celebrations, corporate events, festivals, and public events. We have a variety of packages that range from basic bartending all the way to all inclusive turn key service to where we provide all things needed for a successful and custom tailored bar service. Southern Standard as a company owns it’s own liquor license allowing us to legally provide alcohol for events and host an open bar or “For Purchase” bar setups to where we can bring all supplies needed, menus, and points of sale allowing patrons to purchase drinks anywhere just as if they were at a bar or restaurant. We have a deep passion and love for what we do and we would absolutely love to be a part of your next event!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I believe that one of the most important lessons that I have learned along this journey is to never let fear or uncertainty consume or control you. Nobody else can make the mountains in front of you move other than yourself. Trust in God and lean on those who love you and care for you. You will always find a way to refine yourself into a better business owner and person.
