Today we’d like to introduce you to Keandria Washington.
Hi Keandria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Grand Rising, World!
Hello, everyone. My name is Keandria Washington. I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, and I currently reside in Dayton, Ohio, where I have lived for the past three and a half years. I am a proud mother of four amazing children, a first-generation college graduate, a wife, entrepreneur, herbalist, and wellness advocate.
“The woman I prayed to become was waiting on the other side of my healing.”
Today, I share a testimony of resilience, transformation, and purpose. I have overcome homelessness, embraced sobriety, and am rebuilding my life while rebranding both myself and my business. Every season has shaped me into the woman I am today.
“Purpose doesn’t always arrive with applause. Sometimes it quietly grows in the places where pain once lived.”
Through every challenge, I discovered that some of life’s greatest breakthroughs are born from its most difficult moments. My journey has taught me that healing is not a destination—it’s a lifelong commitment to choosing yourself, trusting God, and continuing to grow, even when the road ahead is uncertain.
“God didn’t remove every obstacle from my path—He revealed the strength He had already placed within me.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been anything but smooth. It began when I became a teen mother at just 13 years old and left home at the age of 15. Those early experiences forced me to grow up quickly and taught me resilience long before I fully understood its meaning.
“Your calling will often find you long before you find it.”
My journey into herbalism began around 2019–2020 while I was studying culinary arts. I found myself naturally drawn to collecting seeds, journaling, learning about herbs, preserving flowers, and studying everything related to nature, wellness, and healing. Looking back, I realize my love for nature started in childhood. I was always fascinated by flowers, rocks, plants, and the beauty of the earth. However, moving away from my hometown of Chicago in 2022 truly solidified my calling.
“If my story helps one person keep going, then every chapter was worth writing.”
Herbalism became more than an interest—it became my refuge. It helped me find peace in the middle of my storm. Through that journey, God reminded me that healing begins within and that He had already placed the tools, wisdom, and strength inside of me to move forward, regardless of what life brought my way.
“Healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who God created you to be.”
During one of the most challenging seasons of my life, I built my business and discovered what truly makes my heart come alive. Whether I am being compensated or not, serving others has always brought me joy. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that while I am passionate about helping others heal, I must also prioritize my own healing. I didn’t choose many of the hardships life placed before me, but I chose to break generational cycles, reclaim my power, and become the healthiest version of myself—mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
“Healing gave me back the parts of myself that survival tried to steal.”
As you know, we’re big fans of Mama Muffin’s Herbal Care and Wellness LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
During this transformative season, I made the intentional decision to rebrand both my life and my business into Mama Muffin’s Herbal Care & Wellness LLC—a reflection of my healing journey, spiritual growth, and commitment to holistic wellness.
“The woman I’m becoming is worth everything I had to grow through.”
My transition from chef to herbalist felt natural because nurturing others has always been at the core of who I am. While I once nourished people through food, I now support wellness through handcrafted herbal soaps, botanical oils, herbal teas, self-care essentials, candles, jewelry, and spiritual wellness tools designed to promote balance, healing, and self-love.
“I didn’t build a business to sell products. I built a legacy rooted in purpose.”
What excites me most is knowing that every product I create carries intention, purpose, and a piece of my story. My brand represents resilience, divine feminine energy, faith, and natural healing rooted in lived experience. Every item is handcrafted with care, prayer, and love because my business was born during one of the most transformative seasons of my life.
“Sometimes the greatest miracle isn’t that your circumstances changed—it’s that you did.”
I have poured my heart into every creation, and I am honored to share my gifts with the world. This season has taught me to appreciate life’s simple blessings and to honor the beauty of creating with intention. Being of service to others feeds my soul. Helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves is not only my passion—it is my purpose.
Being recognized in multiple magazine publications has been a humbling reminder that purpose has a way of making room for itself. Every feature represents another opportunity to share hope, healing, and the importance of never giving up.
“Every product I create carries two ingredients you can’t purchase—prayer and intention.”
My brand is deeply personal. It reflects my story of healing from experiences that once threatened to define me and prevent me from walking in my purpose. Today, I encourage others to recognize the healer, creator, and alchemist within themselves. If I can transform my pain into purpose, I believe others can too.
“My business was born in the middle of my storm, which is why it carries so much peace.”
That same mission inspired me to create my Facebook community, A Woman’s Journey to Self Love and Healing, which has grown to more than 758,000 women. Through this incredible sisterhood, I’ve learned that healing doesn’t have to happen alone. Together, we uplift, encourage, and remind one another that our past does not determine our future.
“A healed woman doesn’t chase her purpose. She walks in it.”
One of the questions I get asked most often is, “Where did the name Mama Muffin come from?”
The name was actually born during my college years. I naturally became the person everyone came to—for advice, encouragement, a listening ear, a home-cooked meal, or simply support. Without realizing it at the time, I was already walking in my purpose by caring for others the way a mother would. Looking back, I realized.. I was sharing my gifts long before I ever recognized them as gifts. That realization changed everything.
“I was sharing my gifts long before I ever recognized them as gifts. Looking back, I can see that God was preparing me for a purpose bigger than I could have imagined.”
I’ve also always loved muffins, so one day I combined the two, and Mama Muffin was born. What started as a nickname eventually became the foundation of my brand.
“Mama Muffin isn’t just my business name. It’s the woman God was preparing me to become.”
Today, the name carries even greater meaning. It represents compassion, nurturing, community, and healing. Whether I’m creating herbal products, encouraging women through my online community, or simply offering words of hope, my mission remains the same—to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered on their own healing journey.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is sharing my gifts with the world in a way that inspires hope, healing, and transformation. I truly believe that each of us has something unique to offer, and I want my work to remind people that healing is possible—even after life’s greatest challenges.
“I became ‘Mama Muffin’ long before I realized I was building a brand.”
Mama Muffin’s Herbal Care & Wellness LLC is more than a business; it is a sacred herbal boutique where nature, faith, spirit, and softness come together. Every herbal blend, oil, soap, candle, and self-care ritual is thoughtfully crafted with intention, prayer, and purpose. My goal is to create products that encourage people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and embrace wellness from the inside out.
Although my journey has been filled with obstacles, I have learned that hard work, faith, and consistency always produce growth. Success doesn’t always happen overnight, but every setback carries a lesson that prepares us for the next chapter.
“I don’t want to be remembered for what I sold. I want to be remembered for how I made people feel.”
I want people to know that it’s okay to fail because failure often becomes our greatest teacher. It’s okay to start over. It’s okay to rebuild. There is an entire world of people waiting to experience your gifts, your kindness, your strength, and your light.
“Softness isn’t weakness. It’s what blooms after surviving what should have broken you.”
No matter what season you’re in, keep showing up. Stay rooted in your purpose, trust God’s timing, and never underestimate the impact your story can have on someone else’s life. Your healing may become the hope someone else has been praying for.
“I was nurturing people before I knew nurturing was my purpose.”
Today, I’m rebuilding my life with purpose and creating a legacy rooted in faith, healing, and service. I believe God has already written purpose into each of our lives. Our responsibility is to remain faithful, stay consistent, and keep showing up—even when life knocks us down. Your purpose isn’t discovered the moment life becomes easy; sometimes it’s revealed in the very seasons that try to break you. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that healing is possible, purpose is real, and with God, no chapter of your story is ever wasted.
“Legacy isn’t measured by what you leave behind. It’s measured by what you awaken within others.”
