Hi Gilbert, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a first-generation Hispanic college graduate, my parents gave everything they had to ensure I had the education and career opportunities that they did not. I grew up in the small town of Hondo, TX where everyone knew who your parents were and a strong sense of community is embedded in almost every person.
I attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I became a Registered Nurse for two reasons, a passion to serve others through improving their health, and a flexible and strong career. My nursing career has taken me from the hospital bedside to corporate boardrooms. I found a deep interest in finance and went on to obtain my MBA as well.
As I witnessed my family invest in me, I felt the need to continue the momentum and create an investment that my children could also stand proudly by. This is when I came across an opportunity to enter the self-storage business in Seguin, TX. The facility had served this community for over 30 years and was in need of an overhaul. With no prior self-storage experience, my family and I took a leap of faith in purchasing Attic Storage Seguin. Through weekly weekend trips, grit, and desire; Attic Storage Seguin was able to return to it’s prime shape and is now operating consistently near full capacity.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has had it’s curves; and by curves, I am referring to learning curves. Not having any prior entrepreneur or business ownership experience, I needed to take it upon myself to research on the best practices of owning a business. While having an MBA is helfpul, the real-world knowledge needed to operate a business, manage customers, etc is not found in a text book.
A lot of my research came from connecting with industry contacts and has allowed me to befriend incredible people with business knowledge who are willing to share their recommendations.

Our self storage business is proud to state that we are 100% family-owned and operated. We proudly service both residential and commercial needs for self storage. Our facility offers drive-up accessible units, 24/7 digital video surveillance, online renting, 24-hour access with eighteen-wheeler accessibility.
We are unique because our facility has 100% of our units drive-up accessible, our facility proudly supports multiple small businesses owners within our community who use our self-storage to store their business supplies and tools.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Being flexible and understanding for our customers has been extremely valuble for us. When the July 2025 floods struck our community, multiple tenants lost their homes and suffered from financial hardships. Because of this, we offered payment assistance and allowed customers to pay on a delayed schedule without any penalties.
Their gratitude and news sharing created a ripple effect of positive reviews of the way we do business in Seguin, giving us a stamp of approval from many community members.
