Exploring Life & Business with Deven Zimmer of Cerceau Sisters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deven Zimmer. Them and their team share their story with us below:

What started as a hobby in high school, bloomed into a surprising business venture for co-founders, Deven Zimmer and Brooke Hanson. They took their experience and love for performing and turned them into experiences that could be enjoyed by the San Antonio community.

The company originally started as a performance duo that offered booking services, workshops, and flow products and later transitioned into a full-time production company dedicated to bringing a unique theatrical cirque experience to Texas.

The transition began when we were brainstorming in our parents’ living rooms during the time we had between our full-time classes and part-time jobs. We were blown away by the support we had from local artists who shared a similar dream and by our community.

After our first live production’s success, we are now gearing up for our second live production this October.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our road has been far from smooth. The rockiest road of ice creams, if you will.

When transitioning into the idea of production, we had $20 in our account, limited experience in production, and a very small team (just us). For just about every step forward, we took 3 steps back.

One of the biggest challenges we faced was not only making sure things were done, but making sure things were done great to ensure an amazing experience for our guests and team members.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cerceau Sisters LLC?
Cerceau Sisters LLC is a company led by two entrepreneurial women who aim to bring a creative flair to our hometown and the world of production. Our mission is to create a unique and captivating experience by providing quality entertainment.

We strive to transcend the expectations of the audience while immersing them in the excitement and wonder of circus arts. Our shows promote inclusivity, diversity, and creativity among the crew and cast. We want those who come to our shows to be inspired to take hold of their own dreams.

Our shows are produced, directed, and written by the founders and include a call to action within the storyline – follow your dream, rise up to your challenges, etc.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Take everything one step at a time – one foot in front of the other.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help, you’d be amazed at how many people are willing to step up if you simply ask. Most importantly, celebrate small wins! It’s about the journey just as much as it is about the end goal.
