Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Beuning.
Hi Debra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My love for baking started as a child, baking alongside my mom and learning the value of family recipes and handmade treats. In 2013, I started my baking journey as a cottage food baker, never imagining how far it would grow.
About six years ago, I discovered macarons and quickly fell in love with the creativity, precision, and artistry behind them. What started as a passion project grew into a small business offering gourmet, handmade macarons made in small batches with high quality ingredients.
Today, I’m proud to have grown from baking in my home to having my macarons available in stores and at local markets. I continue to balance my business with my full time career and family, but baking remains something I truly love. Every macaron is handmade with care, inspired by my family, and created to bring a little sweetness and joy to others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been challenges along the way—learning new techniques, working through recipes that didn’t turn out as planned, balancing baking with a full-time job and family, and finding the time and confidence to grow the business. At times, I wondered whether I could truly turn my passion into something bigger, but each obstacle became an opportunity to learn and keep moving forward.
With every batch, I gained experience, strengthened my skills, and grew more confident in what I was creating. What began in my kitchen eventually blossomed into selling in stores and building a business centered around handmade, gourmet macarons. The journey hasn’t been perfect, but every step—and every lesson—has made the dream more meaningful and reminded me how far perseverance can take you.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our business is a small, family -owned artisan bakery specializing in gourmet, handcrafted macarons and specialty desserts. What began with a love of baking and cherished family recipes has blossomed into a brand dedicated to creating beautiful, memorable treats that taste every bit as wonderful as they look.
We are best known for our handcrafted macarons, made in small batches with high quality ingredients and an ever changing selection of unique, creative flavors. From timeless classics to seasonal favorites and adventurous combinations, we love adding a little surprise to every box. We also offer specialty treats, including our handmade Dubai bars and other limited edition desserts.
What truly sets us apart is the care and craftsmanship that go into everything we make. Inspired by family traditions, our recipes are prepared by hand rather than mass-produced. We thoughtfully consider every detail—from flavor and texture to presentation—so each treat feels personal, special, and worth savoring.
We are especially proud of the story behind our brand. Baking has been part of our family for generations, and this business grew from treasured memories of baking alongside Mom into a passion for creating delicious moments for our community. Watching our macarons grow from a small cottage food business into treats enjoyed by customers in stores and at markets has been incredibly meaningful.
When you purchase from us, you are supporting a small business built on family, passion, creativity, and a genuine love of baking. Every macaron is handmade with intention, and every order gives us the opportunity to share something beautiful, delicious, and made with care.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best:
I love the sense of community in San Antonio. There is such a wonderful mix of cultures, traditions, local businesses, and people who genuinely support one another. I especially love the small-business community and the many markets and events that give local makers an opportunity to share what they create.
What I like least:
The growth and traffic can definitely be challenging. San Antonio has grown so much, and sometimes it feels like the city is losing a little of the slower, close-knit feeling that makes it special.
