Exploring Life & Business with David and Amera Hernandez of Muddy Paws Mobile Grooming LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to David and Amera Hernandez.

Hi David and Amera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
David & Amera Hernandez…! We actually been in the grooming industry since 2019 when we opened our first shop in the RGV. I (Amera) have been grooming since 2010 and kinda just fell into it never knew I’d still be at it today. My cousin Elizabeth Flores got me into Petsmart as a senior in high school. And I never looked back. Between Petsmart and some mom and pops, I just stuck with grooming and made it my career choice ever since! We kicked off our mobile business once Covid hit my ex-bosses now friends Matthis & Ymelda leased me a van from their business GoPawzGo ( where I was employed ) to just get my feet wet on my own and ended up setting me up for success, they let buy a van from them and Muddy Paws Mobile kicked off in April of 2020. 🐾

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was definitely interesting starting a business during Covid. It was a bit nerve-wracking and having some calls come in and then have some days with only one dog. Then finding out we were expecting our first son later that same year! Talk about a curveball but thankfully I had the easiest pregnancy and worked up all the way to the day of my delivery. 12/26/20 Also starting slow we purchased a used mobile unit and used units always need more love. Thankfully David is quick with his hands and we never had to be down longer than a day.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Muddy Paws Mobile Grooming LLC?
Muddy Paws Mobile gives every dog a chance no matter what age or breed you have. We specialize in all types of dogs especially large breed dogs. With having the bigger units we can happily accommodate any weight and size. We also groom cats. && the best part is we don’t have a set travel areas. We travel as far as we have too or need too. We wanna stay as mobile as we can without having limited service areas. Also, we are happy to say we work seven days a week Monday thru Sunday to help accommodate each client’s schedule and lifestyles.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe the most important thing to our success is our family. They completely support us and help us in any way they can. My parents ( Herberto & Sylvia Flores) also drive up to babysit our one-year-old son (Daxton Hernandez) for us on the weekends to help keep us flexible for our workers who are only available on Saturdays & Sundays. Having this small business is everything for us. It’s supporting a growing family and helping me live my dream job. && the biggest important impact to our success is our amazing clients. Our clients have been with us since day one and helped spread the word of our small business. We wouldn’t be anywhere without them speaking so highly of us and spreading the word far and wide ☺️

Muddy Paws is awesome!!! We love Amera & David & can’t ever imagine taking my baby to anyone else to get groomed!!!! If you want the absolute best, call Muddy Paws; you won’t be disappointed. I am very picky with my Yorkie & I struggled to find a groomer I was happy with; I was ecstatic when we found Muddy Paws & I love that they will come to you, or they will even let you go to them. They really listen to what you want & you can tell how much they love all of their clients.
