Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Fauss.
Hi Cassandra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey with yoga began as a deeply personal path of self-discovery—a way of coming home to myself. Through my practice, I realized that yoga was so much more than postures on a mat. It became a powerful lens for understanding how I show up in my life and how I relate to the fullness of the human experience.
After moving to San Antonio, I felt a strong desire for community and connection, both as a teacher and a student. At the time, the yoga landscape was far more limited, and many people perceived yoga as intimidating or inaccessible. That’s what inspired me to create Mobile Om in 2013—bringing yoga outside the traditional studio and into inspiring public spaces through free and donation-based classes. My intention was to make the practice more approachable, inclusive, and connected to something bigger than ourselves.
What began as a small gathering of about a dozen people on the Hays Street Bridge has grown into a vibrant, community-centered movement. Today, Mobile Om continues to bring hundreds of people together each week to move and breathe in iconic outdoor spaces across the city. Our classes are welcoming and accessible, fostering genuine connection—to self, to community, and to the natural environments we practice in.
Along the way, my work has continued to evolve. I’m currently a psychotherapist-in-training, where I integrate mindfulness, nature, and somatic practices into my approach. Whether I’m teaching a class, leading a retreat, training future teachers, or holding space for a therapy client, my intention remains the same: to help people feel more connected—to themselves, to others, and to the world around them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but I don’t think it’s meant to be.
There have been significant challenges along the way—opening and closing two brick-and-mortar studios, navigating shifts in business models, and adapting during the pandemic, which required learning entirely new ways to connect and teach. I’ve also experienced partnerships that didn’t last and moments that tested my trust, boundaries, and decision-making.
Those experiences were difficult, but they were also incredibly formative. They required me to take a step back, reassess, and lead with more clarity and intention.
A teacher once told me that life is a yoga pose, and that’s proven especially true in my journey as an entrepreneur. Some of the most meaningful “practice” I’ve ever done hasn’t happened on the mat—it’s come through navigating uncertainty and learning how to stay grounded within it.
One of the things I often share with my students is the idea of finding stability within the wobble. That’s been a real practice for me—not avoiding challenges, but learning how to move through them with awareness and steadiness.
Looking back, those moments of uncertainty shaped how I lead today. They strengthened my ability to stay grounded, make aligned decisions, and continue showing up with a deeper sense of purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mobile Om is a community-centered yoga and wellness organization rooted in the belief that movement, nature, and connection are essential to mental health. Since 2013, we’ve been bringing yoga out of traditional studios and into outdoor spaces across San Antonio—making the practice more accessible, inclusive, and grounded in real life.
We’re known for creating meaningful experiences in unexpected places—local parks, local landmarks and other public spaces—where people can move, breathe, and reconnect with themselves and each other. Our approach is beginner-friendly and non-intimidating, focused less on performance and more on presence.
What sets us apart is the integration of mental health and mindfulness into everything we do. We offer free outdoor community classes, corporate wellness, private events, retreats, and yoga teacher trainings,.
What I’m most proud of is the community. Mobile Om isn’t just a brand—it’s a space where people feel like they belong.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say adaptability has been the most important quality in my journey.
The ability to stay open, to evolve, and to respond thoughtfully to change has been essential—not just in building a business, but in sustaining it. There have been many moments where things didn’t go as planned, and I’ve had to shift direction, learn new skills, or reimagine what was possible.
My yoga practice has played a huge role in that. It’s taught me how to stay present, how to respond instead of react, and how to remain grounded even when things feel uncertain. That mindset has helped me make more intentional decisions and continue moving forward without losing sight of my values.
Adaptability, for me, isn’t about constantly pivoting—it’s about staying aligned while being willing to grow. That’s what’s allowed me to build something that continues to evolve in a meaningful and sustainable way.
