Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Langham.
Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career in investment banking in compliance in the UK and Australia. On paper, I was following a “successful path.” But over time, I felt increasingly disconnected, internally drained, craving meaning and alignment. The culture in Investment Banking was also disingenuous, and I experienced a lot of microaggressions.
While still working, I began to quietly explore other ways of being: I wrote content for non-profit and NGO work for French organizations. I taught myself to read in French, enough, to adjust it for English-speaking audiences so that it would be comprehensible and engaging to a wider audience across the world. At the same time, I began reading tarot for friends and acquaintances.
In 2020, after a tumultuous mishandling of the George Floyd incident in my office, I decided to close that chapter of my life for good, and I left banking. From there, I allowed myself to experiment: digital marketing, program management, and content creation. But alongside the professional shifts, another transformation was happening. I leaned into my spiritual path. I trained to teach yoga, undertook advanced theta-healing training (working on healing childhood, generational, soul and past-life wounds), and became a Usui Reiki master. Most recently, I have trained as a Sekhem Reiki healer, and I am incorporating that practice into my business.
Over the last 5 years, I began to see the edges blur between strategy and spirit. The corporate world, the non-profit world, the intuitive and healing world, all of it is blended to culminate into the business I run today.
I run: a blend of brand, fundraising, and content consulting, alongside Sekhem Reiki healing, psychic readings, and yoga teachings. I work with both individuals and corporates, offering strategy with soul, grounding spiritual healing, and intuitive insight alongside concrete consulting.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. A lot of the challenges were internal. I carried old conditioning from my years in investment banking: the pressure to constantly perform, to do more, to equate worth with output. When I moved into work that was heart-led and people-driven, I initially tried to operate with the same rigid structure I had in banking, and it simply didn’t fit. That created self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and a constant feeling that I “wasn’t doing enough,” even when I was navigating an entirely new path.
There were also practical challenges. Leaving corporate meant walking away from stability, benefits, and predictable income. As a business owner, some months are abundant, and others are quiet, and learning to stay grounded through them has been a practice. I also had moments where I worked with organisations or clients whose values didn’t feel aligned. Choosing to step away, even when it meant losing steady projects, was difficult but necessary for my integrity.
In many ways, the journey required me to unlearn old cycles, trust myself more deeply, and build a new way of working that actually honors who I am.
We’ve been impressed with Thoughtful Thorough, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Thoughtful Thorough, sits at the intersection of spirituality and strategy. I’m not just a consultant or a healer. I combine both worlds to help individuals, founders, brands, organizations, and social enterprises clarify who they are, what they stand for, and how to communicate that to the world with integrity, heart, and impact.
What I specialize in:
Brand, Fundraising & Content Consulting: I support mission-driven businesses and social enterprises in crafting compelling brand stories, aligning messaging with values, and building communication strategies that resonate deeply with their audience. This includes grant writing and crowdfunding strategy for organizations seeking funding or support.
Spiritual & Wellness Offerings: Through yoga and meditation instruction, as well as psychic/tarot readings and healing sessions (Sekhem Reiki, intuitive work), I support individuals and sometimes groups or teams to reconnect with themselves, ground in their bodies, and access inner clarity and resilience.
What sets Thoughtful Thorough apart:
What truly differentiates my business is the blending of strategy and soul. Many consultants offer branding or content work and focus on the psychology or the mindset of the customer or stakeholder. Many healers or spiritual guides offer wellness or intuitive services. But I combine both in a coherent, values-driven way. By bridging intuitive insight, spiritual grounding, and strategic thinking, I help clients build something that is not only polished and effective but also deeply resonant, authentic, and aligned with who they are. This isn’t “selling” in the conventional sense: it’s inviting people into connection, trust, shared values, and community.
Because of this holistic approach, I’m able to serve a variety of clients: from mission-led enterprises needing communication and fundraising support, to individuals and teams seeking inner alignment and clarity. My business becomes a space where professional growth, personal healing, and collective purpose meet.
What I am most proud of:
I’m proud that Thoughtful Thorough doesn’t just chase commercial success, it is values-aligned. My values are: integrity, justice, fairness, diversity, inclusion, authenticity, and collective liberation. These give me direction in everything I do and who I choose to work with. I’m also proud that I’ve been able to work across geographies, supporting clients in the UK, Eastern Africa, France, and the US, which attests to the universal nature of our human experience and my own wanderlust.
What I want readers to know about my brand & offerings
If you choose to engage with Thoughtful Thorough, you’re not just hiring a consultant or healer. You’re entering a collaborative, conscious space in which your brand or project is treated as a living, breathing entity that has a voice, a values framework, and the capacity to resonate with real people. Whether you’re a social enterprise trying to articulate your mission, a founder seeking clarity around your brand identity, or an individual hoping to reconnect with your inner purpose. I offer tools, guidance, and support to bring that vision into the world.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is freedom, the freedom to be myself, to live in alignment with my values, and to contribute to collective liberation. I genuinely believe that none of us are truly free unless all of us have the right to life, dignity, and the pursuit of happiness, and that belief shapes both my work and my joy.
Travel, yoga, going out with friends, dancing, and simply being able to move through the world on my own terms bring me happiness, too. Learning to accept myself, love myself, and show up unapologetically has been a long journey and it is something that I have worked hard for. Now that I’m here, just being me, in my fullest, truest expression, feels like a gift.
My life isn’t perfect, but after everything I’ve navigated, I’m able to ride the waves with more ease and grace. That ability to stay grounded, to enjoy the small moments, and to live in a way that feels aligned and intentional is what truly makes me happy.
