Daily Inspiration: Meet Tiesha Hartman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiesha Hartman. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Tiesha holds a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio…as long as she can remember, she wanted to be a teacher…her father was a teacher and a coach…In fact, he coached and taught woodshop right in our community at Corbett Jr High for several years before moving on to another district…Tiesha, a former Clemens Buffalo was doing just that, teaching/coaching Elementary PE at Cornerstone Christian Schools in San Antonio…It was here that she developed the program known as physical brain training…After teaching for years she witnessed a decline in young students’ coordination, strength, and overall physical abilities; directly impacting many things, most importantly their behavior and academic performance in the classroom. She combined her love for fitness and boot camps with a data-driven approach to reach, nourish and improve specific body systems responsible for academic learning. The program grew into additional space, offerings and grade levels and the result was miraculous…children were able to self-regulate emotions, focus in the classroom; improving behavior and academic performance; even being discharged from regular therapies. It was during this successful school year that the Lord spoke to Tiesha and her husband, Alex “This is your last year here”…”this is for all my children not just students at Cornerstone ”. They were aggressively saving in hopes to purchase a building one day for Alex’s already established State Farm office. What the Lord was calling them to do didn’t make sense in order to continue towards their goal. After much prayer…and many tears Tiesha resigned her position in July 2019 and they began their obedience walk that has led them to 302 N Main St. They didn’t even have a name for the next season…they just knew they were to be obedient to where they were called. They invested in more equipment and became a successful mobile offering; bringing the physical brain training class to various private schools, preschools, and even collaborating with existing businesses to better reach more children.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made–Why this name?

This name was chosen after a lot of prayer…I was in the word asking the Lord to direct our name…The Lord directed us to Psalm 139, time and time again…Later, after choosing the name, I realized that my birthday, September 13 correlated to the book of Psalm that The Lord directed us to!

We believe that God makes no mistakes in the design of his children that we are all designed with great intention on purpose for a specific purpose only we can fulfill.

We were blessed with a studio space in February 2020, renovating a 1900’s home in Old Town, Cibolo TX for my husband’s State Farm office and the three-sided open carport behind the home to our studio home; we opened to our community in June 2021.

During our renovation, a friend of mine, Savanah had recently completed an aerial training and was playing around in her silk all the time…I noticed and thought it would be a great complement to what we were planning to do with our new studio space. In August 2020, Savanah brought her portable rig to my home, allowing my husband, myself and our 6 children each to experience this new aerial thing…WE LOVED IT!

With the help of JJL Construction, LLC., who consulted with a structural engineer–we brought aerial yoga to Cibolo, TX.

Our studio space is a multipurpose space offering classes and activities for both children and adults. Children-physical brain training, ballet, social squad, kids aerial, teen aerial, and birthday parties. Adults-SoulFULL Yoga, Barre, TRX, and many different Aerial offerings.

What’s unique is that we offer groups the ability to hold private/exclusive classes for their groups…we have had groups come celebrate their birthday, women come for a fun girl’s night, companies have an empowering team building time, mother/daughter bonding, date night, company Christmas parties, and even bachelorette celebrations.

Our space is Christ-centered…our purpose and passion is empowering others…offering Christ-centered classes that invite you to experience God’s grace, love and mercy; rejuvenating your spirit, mind and body, strengthening family relationships and transforming lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle has been to overcome fear…fear of setting something down that you love and are very gifted at (in my case teaching) to start over from scratch (a new business). I have learned to trust the vision, to truly listen and obey; undauntedly to what The Lord is calling me to do…even when I don’t understand or see the outcome. I have worked harder these last 2 years than I have in my entire life…sometimes putting in 17 hour days, 7 days a week; yet I am fueled by fulfilling this calling The Lord has placed on me and that is exhilarating! Seeing how this space and our programs are blessing lives fills my heart with such JOY and grows my faith everyday!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am gifted at identifying and ministering to Children’s needs…encouraging and empowering others. I am proud of the community that The Lord has orchestrated at Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. We have been blessed with some amazing partner instructors who love The Lord, his people and are passionate about the program they teach and empowering others.

Our space is judgement-free—it’s about grace, love, mercy and empowerment.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are scary—my husband is a State Farm insurance agent…naturally he is conservative, and is exceptional about planning and protecting for unseen risks.

Us laying down my career in education, potentially reducing our income substantially and then within 7 months having a contract on a commercial property is a HUGE financial risk. Some would call it plain crazy!

We overcame that fear, trusted, put in the work and now feel blessed to share what we have created with our community..
