Sarah Moser

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey with Pink Pueblo Designs has been fulfilling and transformative, rooted in my passion for home decor and design. It all began with my home construction, real estate, and interior design background, which laid the foundation for my venture into this creative field. Before launching Pink Pueblo Designs, I was a project manager for a dynamic home renovation team. During my time in this role, I gained invaluable experience in construction management and operations, overseeing the renovation and flipping of over 40 homes. This hands-on experience honed my project management skills and deepened my appreciation for the art of transforming living spaces.

As I delved further into home construction and renovation, I realized that my true calling lay in home decor and design. I was drawn to the idea that our daily spaces profoundly impact our lives. They can serve as sanctuaries that reflect our individuality and tell our unique stories. This belief became the driving force behind Pink Pueblo Designs. With a background in marketing and operations, I was well-prepared to take on the challenges of starting my own home decor business. Pink Pueblo Designs was born to help people enhance their daily environments, making them aesthetically pleasing, functional, and deeply meaningful. I embarked on this entrepreneurial journey to empower individuals to create spaces that truly resonate with their personalities and lifestyles. In recent years, Pink Pueblo Designs has undergone an exciting pivot. We’ve expanded our offerings to include a curated selection of vintage and upcycled home decor. In our quest to source unique treasures, we scour estate sales and thrift stores, seeking hidden gems that need a second life. We passionately repurpose older decor items, infusing them with new vitality and purpose. These one-of-a-kind pieces add character and history to our projects, and they have quickly become a cornerstone of our brand.

Today, Pink Pueblo Designs has grown into a thriving enterprise, offering a wide range of interior design services and a handpicked collection of vintage and upcycled home decor products. Our team is dedicated to helping clients transform their houses into homes that reflect their unique stories and celebrate the beauty of sustainable design.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey with Pink Pueblo Designs has been an incredible adventure, filled with triumphs and challenges. While I’m deeply passionate about home decor and design, the decision to start this business was born out of a pivotal moment in my life during the turbulent year of 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us all to reevaluate our lives and priorities. I found myself on leave, allowing me to reflect on my passions and envision my next steps. Spending more time at home, I became acutely aware of the transformative power of a well-designed living space. This realization inspired me to leap of faith and launch my interior design business to help others create sanctuaries within their homes.

However, starting a business during a global pandemic presented unique challenges. Supply chain disruptions and shipping delays made it increasingly difficult to source readily available furniture for my clients. Nobody wanted to wait 6 to 8 months to complete their home projects. This predicament pushed me to pivot and explore alternative sourcing methods. We turned to platforms like the Facebook Marketplace, scoured antique stores, attended estate sales, and collaborated with local artisans to find unique and readily available furniture pieces.

In the face of uncertainty, I realized the importance of adaptability and resilience. I wasn’t willing to let the challenges of the pandemic thwart my dreams. Instead, I viewed these obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow. It was a critical turning point when I acknowledged that the business needed outside help and investment to thrive. This realization prompted me to reevaluate my business model and pricing structure.

Starting a business is time-consuming and resource-intensive, but my determination and willingness to adapt have been my guiding lights. I recognized that home design services, while a luxury, could still find their niche in the market. To navigate the shifting economic landscape, I learned to identify and target ideal clients and reevaluate my pricing strategy to sustain the business.

Rather than giving up, I temporarily paused taking on new clients to reassess our business strategies and explore new revenue streams. During this period of reflection, we discovered our passion for sourcing and shopping for home decor, leading us to a new and exciting avenue for growth. We launched our online storefront, allowing us to directly offer our curated home goods to clients, making it easier for them to access our unique finds. Additionally, we decided to take our offerings directly to our local community by participating in various local community pop-up events. These pop-ups connect us with our neighbors and provide an opportunity for people to experience our handpicked home decor in person, fostering a sense of community and creativity in the process. This multi-pronged approach has invigorated our business and expanded our reach, demonstrating our commitment to adaptability and innovation.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
