Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Coronado.
Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In November of 2019, I was watching random cookie decorating videos that were popping up on my feed and decided to give it a try, I started posting my work on my personal page and had family and friends asking about my cookies and from there Texas Native Sweets began. In 2020, I was so worried when the pandemic hit, but I still managed to keep going, Aside from doing custom cookies I began doing self serve pop ups on my front porch, and finally did my first market on September of 2021 and still going strong!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, this journey has been far from smooth like all businesses it definitely has its ups and downs. Taking time for self care is always a challenge, sometimes I would get really stressed out. I began to realize I needed to slow down and take time for me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a self-taught baker and I specialize in custom cookies for all occasions. Everything I make is baked from scratch and my very own recipes.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My best advice is to find workshops or classes to join from there you meet different creative minds that love doing the same thing as you. Keep on your social media page, build an audience, get to know your audience, build relationship, comment, like their post and most importantly use your hashtags so others can discover you.
