Hi Roberto, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Roberto Palitos
Hello, my name is Roberto Palitos. I am 39 years old and have been making music for more than 25 years. I am a singer, songwriter, producer, and recording artist whose passion has always been creating music that connects with people. I am a Tejano and Country artist born and raised on the South Side of San Antonio, Texas.
Growing up, my family lived in several places, including Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, Jourdanton Texas, Lytle, Texas, and even Michigan. No matter where life took us, I was raised with strong country values and a deep appreciation for family, faith, and hard work. From a very young age, I knew music was more than just a hobby. It was my calling.
Like many artists, I worked many different jobs over the years in restaurants, bars, and other businesses, but music was always where my heart belonged. Every time I thought about giving up, God reminded me that He gave me this gift for a reason. That faith has carried me through every challenge and every victory.
In 2009, I auditioned for American Idol in Arlington, Texas. Although I did not make it, I refused to let rejection define me. In 2020, I traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to audition for The Voice. Once again, I did not make the show, but I never stopped believing in myself or my dream.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with artists ranging from major names in the music industry to talented independent musicians. I have performed on stages in front of crowds as large as 5,000 people, but whether there are 5,000 fans or only 50, every performance receives the same passion, energy, and dedication because every audience deserves my very best.
One of my proudest accomplishments is the release of my album, Sin Fronteras. This project features 24 completely original songs, all written by me. The album showcases the many musical styles that have influenced my journey, including Tejano, Cumbia, Mariachi, Corridos, and Country, blending them into a sound that reflects who I am as both an artist and a storyteller.
This album is especially meaningful because it was created through some of the hardest moments of my life. In 2021, I lost my mother to COVID the day after Mother’s Day. In December 2024, I lost my grandfather just two days after Christmas. Then, on October 15, 2025, my brother was tragically taken from us. Those losses changed me forever, but they also gave me a deeper purpose for making music.
My hope is that these songs remind people they are never alone. If you are going through a difficult season in life, I want you to know there is always hope. Even if you are not a musician, music has the power to heal, comfort, and take you to places you never imagined. Sometimes God places a song in your life at exactly the moment you need it most.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has not always been easy. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is growing up without knowing my biological father or truly having a relationship with that side of my family. Over the years, I have met some of them, but those connections were always short lived. We would talk for a day or two, and then they would disappear. Even after 39 years, I’ve never received a simple “Happy Birthday” from my biological family. That leaves a void that is difficult to describe, but it also taught me how to become stronger and find my own path.
I was raised in a neighborhood where drugs, gangs, and violence were part of everyday life. You either became involved, became a victim, or found another way. I chose another path. Music became my escape. It kept me focused, gave me purpose, and helped keep me off the streets. Like anyone, I have made mistakes and have a past, but those experiences shaped the person I am today. Without those trials and tribulations, I would not have the strength, wisdom, or appreciation I have now.
Sadly, many of the people I grew up with are no longer here, and others are serving time in prison. Every loss has reminded me how precious life is and how important it is to make every day count. I am grateful that I chose to keep chasing my dream, even when it seemed impossible.
Another obstacle has been simply getting the opportunity to prove myself. You can have all the talent in the world, but if no one is willing to open the door, it can feel like you’re standing still. Sometimes people overlook your talent, and other times they see your potential as a threat. Either way, they can keep you waiting for your chance.
Instead of letting those obstacles define me, I used them as motivation. Every rejection, every disappointment, and every closed door only made me work harder. I believe God has a plan for every one of us, and I trust that when the time is right, no one can stop what He has prepared for me. My journey has taught me that success is not just about talent. It’s about perseverance, faith, and refusing to give up when life tells you to.

What I Do
Music is at the heart of everything I do, but my career extends into several areas of the entertainment industry.
I am a professional graphic designer and have had the privilege of creating artwork and promotional material for some of the biggest artists in the world, as well as many talented independent artists. My goal has always been to help bring an artist’s vision to life through creative and impactful design.
I also work as a professional voiceover artist, providing commercial, promotional, and radio voiceovers for businesses, brands, and entertainment projects. Using my voice to help tell stories and connect with audiences has become another passion of mine.
For the past three years, I have been part of the team at KLMO 98.9 FM and 92.1 FM, one of Texas’ respected Tejano radio stations. Being on the air has given me the opportunity to support artists, connect with listeners, and continue promoting the music and culture I love.
In addition, I am the founder and owner of The Boom Box, an online radio station based in San Antonio that is dedicated to bringing listeners the very best throwback Hip Hop and R&B. The station was built out of my love for music and my desire to give both established and emerging artists another platform to be heard while keeping the classics alive for generations to enjoy.
Whether I am performing on stage, designing graphics, producing voiceovers, or broadcasting on the radio, my mission is always the same: to inspire people through creativity, build opportunities for others, and leave a positive impact through music and entertainment.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Childhood Memories
Some of my favorite childhood memories are with my grandfather. He was one of the biggest influences in my life. He would take my brothers and me to the lake, where we spent countless hours fishing, swimming, and enjoying the outdoors. We also spent a lot of time at the family ranch in Catarina, Texas. Those are some of the moments I cherish the most because they taught us the value of family, hard work, and appreciating the simple things in life.
Growing up, I watched my family work incredibly hard to provide for us. My mother worked in a cucumber and carrot processing factory, while my dad and my grandparents worked long days in the fields picking potatoes, lettuce, and other crops. Seeing their dedication and sacrifice taught me the meaning of perseverance and gave me a deep respect for honest, hard work. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to influence the way I approach my career and my dreams.
Our family moved around quite a bit while I was growing up. One place that stands out was Imlay City, Michigan. Living there gave us a completely different experience from South Texas, and it created memories that I’ll never forget.
One of the craziest moments from my childhood happened while we were living in Michigan. My youngest brother was outside playing basketball when a tornado suddenly came through. The winds were so powerful that they lifted him approximately nine to ten feet into the air before dropping him back to the ground. Thankfully, he survived, and it became one of those unbelievable family stories that we still talk about today.
Looking back, my childhood was filled with adventure, challenges, and unforgettable experiences. Those moments shaped who I am today and gave me memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. No matter where we lived, it was the love of my family, especially the time spent with my grandfather and my brothers, that made every place feel like home.
