Today we’d like to introduce you to Purpose The Musician.
Hi Purpose, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well born in Germany, Raised in TX. I started making music professionally at age 18 under PMI records in the summer of 2005 right here in San Antonio. I’ve released a great number of mixtapes and singles. I’ve collaborated with some of San Antonio’s most popular and successful artists. My journey was somewhat of a roller coaster, with all the ups and downs but I have no complaints about where I am today.
I’m the founder of TEAM LaFamilia Music Group. Established and well respected as a producer/artist. I’ve had the opportunity to perform a long side hip-hops most prestigious and accomplished legends. From Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugz N Harmony, Scarface, UGK, Twista, and many more. My journey has led me to be more behind the scenes and focus on helping our younger entrepreneurs attain their goals. I’m also getting into the fashion industry, I have a lot of merchandise that preparing for release so definitely stay tuned.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not, I believe if you want to be successful regardless of your preferred industry or profession, the road will not be pleasant. My journey has been rough, but I wouldn’t change it for the world, it definitely shaped me into the artist, and father I am today. As far as the struggles, I’ve probably dealt with the same thing all artists have to deal with when they’re coming up.
Everything from, bad promotion, lack of funds, haters, bad business relationships, broken promises, personal life issues, you name it, everything gets in the way when you’re trying to progress and make a dream a reality. You have to worry about the constant changes taking place with technology, you have to be able to keep up with the times. Even now, with being established you’re still going to deal with the same kind of struggles if not more, as you did when you first started out. The key is to really love what you do and enjoy the good alongside the bad.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist/creative. I produce, record, mix, master, and distribute music independently under my own company TEAM Lafamilia Music Group. I’m known for working with most of San Antonio’s hip-hop artists and R&B acts whether as an artist, recording engineer, or producer. I’m closely associated with another popular San Antonio artist named Oak Capone who also happens to be my business partner.
What sets me apart? Is the fact that I’m unapologetic. I never cared to be popular, famous, or have the biggest name in the city. I simply enjoy creating and being around fellow creatives and being able to help people reach their personal goals. Which is also what I’m most proud of. Having the opportunity to help others in any way you can is always something I hold dear to me.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
San Antonio!!!! I love EVERYTHING about our city. The diversity, the culture, the food, the people, it’s just so much growth and potential out here. We’re on the brink of putting this city in the spotlight it deserves if everyone sticks together. As far as what I like least about our city, I would say the mentality of our hip-hop community. People are going to be people no matter where you’re located, but to my experience, SA, is the only place where I’ve seen dope talent, buzzing artists with a fan base, not be received as well as they would be received in Austin or Houston. It’s like people are scared to have a good time and enjoy positive vibes and most importantly hold the artist accountable. I feel that lacks tremendously in our hip-hop community. But as a city, San Antonio is LIT. I love the Northeast side, it’s a different vibe over there. A perfect mixture of country and city all in one. The food here is amazing, it’s plenty of activities for the family to enjoy. And I have a lady, but the women here are beautiful as well. We’re the most slept-on City in America if you ask me.
