Daily Inspiration: Meet Pencils For Progress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pencils For Progress.

Pencils For Progress

Hello, Pencils For Progress. We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
We found that many of the teachers in our community were using money out of their pocket to purchase school supplies for their students, including us! We wanted to make an impact as a team, so by stepping in and giving back, we hope to help alleviate many teacher’s financial burdens. After our first successful supply drive with Huebner Elementary, we hope there’s nothing but growth from here on out. We can’t wait to continue our journey as a nonprofit and are excited for what the future holds. We plan to fill both backpacks as well as hearts this school year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our journey has had its ups and downs. Starting was the most challenging part of the journey. We looked up countless videos on how to be successful in the nonprofit sector and didn’t know where to start. Luckily, we had some great help from some amazing people who got us off our feet, and from then on, we’ve been doing pretty great. Balancing our school work with Pencils For Progress has been another challenge, but we’ve managed and are finding ways to be successful in both areas. All 3 of us are very involved in our school, but we see plenty of time to continue to grow our nonprofit. Looking back, we’ve been fortunate to be where we are today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All three of us are first-year students at Churchill High School. We are very involved within our community, participating in different sports, extracurricular activities, clubs, fine arts, and advanced placement classes. We’re GT students who sometimes take school a little too seriously and strive to do our best in everything we do. What sets us apart is that we’re dedicated to each other and what we do. We want to do everything to the best of our ability and will put in maximum effort to achieve our goals. Aside from that, we’re also very passionate about what we do and want to make a difference in our community.

Before we go, can you talk to us about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
We would love to collaborate with anyone interested in helping us make a difference. Whether that be to help us set up fundraisers to support our community, host school supply drives at their school or business, or display our brand on their socials, we are excited to expand Pencils For Progress in any way possible! On a smaller scale, sharing our Instagram, donating, and even following us along our journey are wonderful ways to support us. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish, and feel free to reach out to us through our email or Instagram if you have any questions.
