Today we’d like to introduce you to Nyles Robakieiwcz.
Hi Nyles, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started playing guitar when i was 9 years old and fell in love with it. It’s been the most constant thing in my life aside from my family. When i graduated high school I began attending live shows frequently and paired that with my love for music and songwriting. I’ve been playing live music in bars, restaraunts, backyards, amphitheaters and everything in between since i was 18 years old. I started a band called “Shaker Hymns,” while i was in college at Texas State university. That band went on to have some moderate regional success touring across the country. After cultivating a strong friendship and mentorship under Larry Joe Taylor, ( founder of LJT fest) I decided in 2024 to start recording and pursuing a solo career. I’ve currently released 1 single and have plans to release 6-8 more over the course of the year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been the hardest challenge i have ever faced. The music industry is changing at a rapid pace and it is highly saturated. These two things make it incredibly difficult to be heard. Countless different “niches” have arose diffusing the number of listeners as well as the influence of tik tok and digital streaming. These things are very useful tools however lend themselves to the “mystery” of the algorithm. Finding a way to not only write and create constantly, but also be marketable has been one of my biggest troubles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the root of my career is songwriting. Whether for dollars or debt, I am and always will be a songwriter. I’ve developed over the years as a working guitarist, bassist, keyboard, player and singer. However what truly sets me apart is my songwriting. Aside from any musical ability what has forwarded my career and gained me the most success has been tying words to earworms and casting a line.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is mystical so i try not to dwell on it too much. If i look at everything that has happened, it seems all the success I’ve had has been attributed to hard work and all the setbacks have been attributed to bad luck. Although this seems like an obvious thought process I’m sure it’s biased against any dumb decisions I’ve made that luck kept me out of trouble.
