Mariah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
OTE was born out of my passion for both cosmetics and science. Growing up in a family of hairstylists and in a home with a medical professional, I have always had a love for both fields. Although I never imagined they could intersect.
While in college, I worked at hair salons as front desk staff, where I admired the unique creativity and talent surrounding me.
Later, I had the opportunity to work under a physician who had a medical spa just above his medical practice. It was there that I realized I could blend my love for the medical field with my passion for beauty. My experience in the medical spa solidified my calling to create an intentional and accessible skin clinic, where science and beauty meet.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting to where I am today required taking some bold steps! I took a leap of faith by moving to a brand-new city, leaving behind my established clientele and network. I knew in my heart San Antonio was a growing city that had a need for something unique and special focusing on education in an inviting and unintimidating atmosphere.
This leap would give me the opportunity to build something truly special here where everyone feels welcome and empowered in their skincare journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
OTE stands for “Only the Essentials”. OTE Skin Lab embodies a skin clinic free of gimmicks. I am a skin specialist and acne expert passionate about treating acne holistically and empowering my clients through education. My background in health and science, combined with a minimalistic approach, sets me apart. I am deeply committed to identifying the distinct root causes of acne, including nutritional factors and inflammation that contribute to skin issues.
Every service I provide is intentional and designed with your skin’s health in mind. For instance, instead of facial massages, I offer lymphatic drainage to deliver real benefits. In a world full of skin influencers, my goal is to offer transparency and education, focusing on genuine results rather than capitalizing on skin insecurities.
I am most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients.
How do you define success?
Success, to me, means helping as many people as possible feel confident in their own skin. My goal is to grow my brand to the point where people in this city know they can trust me to guide them on their skin wellness journey.
