Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Saenz.
Hi Lindsay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello my name is Lindsay and my journey started in 2022 with a simple idea and the love for chamoy candy. I had always enjoyed making treats for family and friends, and one day I thought, “Why not turn this into something bigger?” So I took a chance and started Snacks by LindsayR
In the beginning, it was a lot of trial and error. I spent time perfecting my recipes, learning how to market my business, and figuring out what customers really loved and wanted. I started selling at local markets and community events, and little by little, my customer base grew.
Today, I’m proud to say that Snacks by LindsayR has become more than just a candy business. It’s given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people, support local events, and be part of a community that truly supports small businesses. Seeing returning customers and watching people get excited about my products is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I’m still learning and growing every day, but more excited to see what lies ahead. My goal is to keep expanding my business, introduce new products, and continue creating something that people look forward to enjoying. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m so thankful for my husband and family for all of their love, support, and encouragement along the way..
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned came from what I thought would be one of my biggest weekend. I signed up for a huge event and had spent weeks preparing. I invested thousands of dollars into inventory because I wanted to be ready for the crowds.
Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It rained, attendance was much lower than expected, and I ended up losing nearly **$6,000 in revenue** that weekend. It was heartbreaking because I had put so much time, money, and effort into preparing for it.
But instead of letting that experience stop me, I treated it as a learning opportunity. I realized that as a business owner, some things—like the weather—are completely out of your control. What you can control is how you respond. I kept showing up, kept doing events, and kept believing in my business. Looking back now, that setback made me more resilient and taught me not to let one bad weekend define my journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own Snacks by LindsayR, where I create handcrafted snacks and treats that are made with a lot of care, creativity, and attention to detail. I specialize in making products that not only taste great but also feel special, whether they’re for everyday enjoyment, events, or custom orders. I’m probably best known for the quality of my products, the variety I offer, and the personal touch I bring to everything I do.
What I’m most proud of is building my business from the ground up and turning something I started with a passion into something people genuinely love and come back for. What sets me apart is that I put my heart into every part of the process. I’m very hands-on, I care deeply about my customers, and I always want people to feel like they’re getting something made with intention, not just something mass-produced.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor or networking is to not be afraid to put yourself out there. When I started Snacks by LindsayR, I was learning as I went, and a lot of my growth came from connecting with other vendors and small business owners.
Most of my networking has happened at events—talking with other vendors, supporting their businesses, and building genuine relationships. I’ve learned that you don’t always need a mentor with a huge business; sometimes, the best advice comes from someone who is just a few steps ahead of you.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is to ask questions, stay open to learning, and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. The relationships you build along the way can become some of your biggest support systems.
