Daily Inspiration: Meet Jesse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started Living Word Apostolic Center over 21 years ago on June 6, 2004. We started with a vision of not just opening another church but a church that was more interested in experiencing the God of the bible and not the religious practices we see so much of today. We are a small congregation with a big vision and big plans that is fortunate enough to be in relationship with many ministries in this city. From Homeless ministries to a gathering of leaders within our city striving to make San Antonio a better place to live.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles are a part of this faith walk that we all participate in, whether we desire them or not. From renting a building instead of having a place to call our own, to being faithful to the Word of God which costs us relationships with people we love. Covid of course affected all houses of worship in a negative way. Fear is not of God but so many were fearful and got out of the habit of attending church. Then of course with a struggling economy for the average person church donations is the first thing to be cut off the budget when things are tight for everyone.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our work is simple, Proclaim the Word of God, The Love of God and the Presence of God to all who are willing to hear and see for themselves what God has for them.
I went to International Bible College for four years between 92-96. I have been a born again christian for over 30 years and have been in leadership in some capacity since the day of my rebirth in 1992.
What sets us apart is our unwillingness to water down the truth of God’s word to make it more tolerable to those that do not want to hear it. Truth can hurt at times but truth is what frees us

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I honor you not because I determine you are deserving of honor. But because I am honorable, so I honor everyone regardless of : Race, Gender, Beliefs, Age or Religion. We may not always agree, but that is not a reason to act dishonorable towards one another
