Today we’d like to introduce you to Eglantina Stickles.
Hi Eglantina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into real estate didn’t begin because I dreamed of selling houses. It began because of my own experiences—and, honestly, some very difficult ones.
As a military family, we spent years living a life of constant change. Every few years, new orders meant packing up our entire lives and starting all over again. A new city, sometimes a new country. New doctors, dentists, schools, neighborhoods, friends, and routines.
Anyone who has lived the military lifestyle understands that PCS orders are so much more than just a move. You are rebuilding your life every single time.
During those transitions, one of the people you depend on most is your real estate professional. You need someone who understands the stress, the deadlines, the uncertainty, and the unique challenges that military families face.
Unfortunately, throughout our own moves, I was disappointed more than once. There were times when I felt unheard, misunderstood, or as though the person helping us simply didn’t understand the military lifestyle.
Then, while we were stationed in Germany, we experienced an extremely difficult situation with the property management of our home in the United States.
That was my line in the sand.
I remember thinking, “Enough. I need to understand this for myself.”
So I started taking real estate classes. At first, my goal wasn’t even to build a real estate career. I wanted to educate myself. I wanted to understand the contracts, the laws, the responsibilities, and our rights so that the next time our family had to make a move, I could protect us and handle things myself.
Then I got my real estate license.
Soon afterward, a friend reached out and asked me to help her. I did—and something changed for me.
There was an incredible feeling that came from knowing I had helped someone through such an important decision. I listened to what she needed, advocated for her, and made sure she understood the process.
Then she referred me to a friend.
That friend referred me to another friend.
And those friends began trusting me with their own home searches and real estate transactions.
My business grew almost entirely through relationships and referrals, one person and one family at a time.
And here I am, four years later, working full-time in real estate and loving what I do.
The experiences that once frustrated me became the reason I serve my clients the way I do today.
I never want my clients to feel confused, unheard, afraid, pressured, or misled. I want them to understand what they are signing, know what their options are, and feel like someone is genuinely standing beside them throughout the process.
Especially when I work with military families, I understand that I am not simply helping someone buy or sell a house.
I am helping a family close one chapter of their life and begin another.
That is why I became a Realtor®. And that is still the reason I do what I do today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in life is a smooth ride when you are doing something for the first time.
Today, I can say that I feel confident in what I do. But in the beginning? It was scary.
There was the fear of not knowing everything, the pressure of handling an important transaction, and the responsibility of knowing that my clients were trusting me with one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
But I learned very quickly that I didn’t have to know everything—I needed to surround myself with the right people, ask questions, listen, learn, and never be afraid to say, “Let me find the correct answer for you.”
I was fortunate to choose great leaders and mentors to guide me, and I still make sure I surround myself with people who challenge me, teach me, and help me become a better Realtor®.
One thing about me has never changed: I never stop learning.
In fact, I spent practically every penny from my first closing on more education. Instead of looking at that first commission check as money to spend, I looked at it as an investment in myself and my future.
I invested in classes, knowledge, confidence, and building my network because I knew that if I wanted my clients to trust me, I had to earn that trust by knowing my business.
Four years later, the ride may feel smoother—but not because real estate became easy.
It became smoother because I became stronger, more knowledgeable, more experienced, and more confident.
And I’m still learning.
I believe the moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop growing.
So, has it been a smooth ride?
No. But every challenge, every lesson, every transaction, and every person who took the time to teach me helped build the Realtor® I am today—and I wouldn’t change that journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time Realtor® serving San Antonio and the surrounding areas, specializing in military and VA families, relocation, first-time homebuyers, residential sales, and increasingly commercial real estate.
Being part of a military family myself has shaped the way I approach real estate. I understand that buying or selling a home—especially during a PCS—isn’t simply a transaction. There can be orders, deadlines, children changing schools, spouses changing jobs, moves across the country or overseas, and an incredible amount of uncertainty happening all at once. I have lived that life, so when military families come to me, I understand their concerns on a very personal level.
I am also passionate about working with first-time homebuyers. I love educating my clients throughout the process because I never want someone to feel intimidated or embarrassed to ask a question. My philosophy is simple: there are no stupid questions when it comes to one of the largest financial decisions of your life.
What I believe sets me apart is that I don’t approach real estate as simply opening doors, writing contracts, or putting a sign in someone’s yard. I approach it as a responsibility.
I am extremely detailed. I research. I ask questions. I negotiate. I communicate. And if I don’t know something, I will never pretend that I do—I will find the right professional or resource and get the correct answer.
Real estate changes constantly, and I believe my clients deserve an agent who never stops learning.
My business was built largely through referrals and relationships. One client trusted me, then referred a friend. That friend referred another friend. Over time, those relationships became the foundation of my career.
To me, that is one of the greatest compliments a Realtor® can receive. When someone trusts you enough to give your name to their parents, children, friends, coworkers, or another military family, they are putting their own reputation behind you.
I don’t take that lightly.
I’m not interested in being the Realtor® who disappears after closing. Many of my clients become friends, and I want to remain their real estate resource long after they receive their keys.
At the end of the day, I don’t measure my success only by how many homes I sell. I measure it by how many people trusted me, felt heard and protected throughout the process, and were comfortable enough to send someone they love to me afterward.
That’s the business I’m most proud of building.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now, my biggest focus for the future is continuing to build and strengthen my real estate business. I don’t believe success happens overnight, and I know it will take a few more years of hard work, consistency, education, and relationship-building to get my business exactly where I want it to be.
I’m actually enjoying that journey. Every year I learn more, become more confident, expand my network, and discover new ways to better serve my clients.
My next major professional goal is to earn my broker’s license. For me, that represents another level of education, knowledge, responsibility, and growth within the real estate industry.
Beyond that, I’m keeping an open mind about where this career may take me. I don’t have every step planned yet, and I’m okay with that. I want my growth to happen naturally and for the right reasons—not simply to become bigger, but to become better.
My goal is to continue building a strong, respected, referral-based business and a reputation based on knowledge, honesty, hard work, and genuinely taking care of people.
I’m excited to see where the next few years take me. If the first four years have taught me anything, it’s that sometimes the opportunities you never planned for become the most rewarding ones.
