Today we’d like to introduce you to David Pizana
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello there, I am David Pizana, a San Antonio native, proud father of 5 children, US Military Veteran and an IT professional. I have been working remote from my home for several years now. After waiting over four years, I finally took ownership of my beautiful Cybertruck. I quickly realized the impact it had on me and my sons who didn’t hang out much due to our busy schedules. I noticed that we were spending quality time driving it around, cruising, and cutting jokes, and bonding over a simple truck.
They suggested we start making it our own by adding accessories to it. That is where I ended up networking with Dan of Tint World in Universal City. He had recently opened up his first store and was interested in attending CarFest, one of the biggest car shows in San Antonio, but he didn’t have any newly upgraded vehicles to display. I offered to let him borrow mine so he can display the quality work he recently did on it (tint and under glow lights). He invited me to come and spend the weekend at the show displaying the truck; this would be my very first time attending/participating at a car show. The Cybertruck was a big hit and people just couldn’t get enough of it. I spent three days talking and providing my personal review of how amazing this truck is.
I was so instantly hooked on the car show scene that I have now participated in more than a handful of car shows since then. That is also when SACybertruck was formed. It was easy to see that my new truck was a mobile billboard commanding attention everywhere it went. One of the questions I kept hearing from car show attendees was “how does it feel to ride in a Cybertruck?”, With less than five San Antonio Cybertruck owners at the time, I knew I had an opportunity that could benefit me and the community. My sons suggested I start Ubering on Sundays. This would help me get out of the house and interact with folks and allow our community the chance to get picked up by a Cybertruck if they were Uber riders. So I signed up to be San Antonio’s first Cybertruck Uber and we advertised it on social media sites as “San Antonio Cybertruck Sundays”. The results were nothing short of amazing. People were very surprised to see a Cybertruck rolling up as their Uber ride. We quickly shifted to Cybertruck Uber weekends and now are up to at least 5 days a week where I go out for a few hours Ubering and surprising folks.
I have really enjoyed being able to get out and see my great city along with meeting and talking with awesome people. I have also enjoyed posting pictures of where some of my rides have taken me to in San Antonio as well as various local small businesses to help promote them on social media.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The signing up to Uber in a Cybertruck has been fun and easy addition to my normal life. For the most part, all my riders have been amazing and enjoyed the experience. There are, of course, some riders that obviously are not into cars and didn’t even realize what they were riding in; those I found very amusing to myself.
Some of the challenges I often face while doing my Uber rounds is having riders onboard and passing up other vehicles with riders who clearly want to voice their dislike of the new Cybertruck. They are entitled to their views, opinions, and finger gestures; so there is nothing that can be done there. But it is uncomfortable for my riders to experience such hateful displays while being just an innocent passenger. It does diminish the experience I was hoping to provide my riders. Gladly, most have understood and had positive things to add the rest of the trip.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have multiple degrees in Business, Logistics, and IT Computer Science along with several certifications. I have been in the IT field over 30 years.
I also have had a nice career in the military. I served 4 years active duty in the Navy and almost 14 years in the Air Force Reserves.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am lucky to be in a position where I could afford to have purchased a Cybertruck.
