Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Nichole.
Chelsea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
What started off as passing time watching other girls on youtube haul clothing + accessories from stores like forever21, wet seal, Hollister, etc., inspired me to do the same. I didn’t have many if any friends who held the same interest as me but found comfort within strangers who shared the same joys/findings.
At a young age, I felt I had a keen eye for what looks good, what is trending, and maybe help some people along the way with style/fashion dilemmas. I was a senior in high school and went shopping with my sister to forever21 + Shasa at North Star mall and copious weekend trips to Dallas + visiting the Galleria to buy all that screamed 2010/2011! Shared them in a few videos… the rest was history. Strangers enjoyed my content and it inspired me to create more.
Over the last 10 years, consistency wasn’t always key. I veered off the path into my short run with real estate after high school, until I realized I found little to no joy and was often running on empty. After many self-talks and truth-finding… knowing that creating content through videos/social media was meant for me. I had too much bottled inside of me to let it go to waste.
Over the years in regards to content, I’ve dabbled in a few different corners… until all lead me back to fashion/wellness /beauty/lifestyle. Quickly realize that the path which leads you to where you’re meant to be is never straight and narrow, many twists turns, and curves come along the way. I needed to flow through the seasons, learn what I was truly comfortable with, what brought me peace, and what I was able to evolve with.
Focus has been my discipline in keeping up with the constant changes in the community of content creators and how to stand out to catch the attention of others. Over the years, I’ve been able to meet/make many friends along the way. Friendships that weren’t intentional but I would be upset if they never came to fruition. We lift each other up and support one another in each of our endeavors.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! I’d be lying if I said it was easy.
With confidence, I can say I’m not quite sure if this job ever becomes ‘easy’. What makes it fun is the ever-changing ebbs and flows. New platforms, new ideas, new face… Holding true to yourself through this is what will help you along the way. Something I definitely had to learn – and I learned the hard way, WAS in fact to be true to who you are. Not jumping on a specific bandwagon just to save face and keep up with others because that’s (at the time) what is trending.
I’ve made that mistake one too many times. Once realized, you see things in a different light and how you’re able to turn yourself around and get back to the roots of your truth. The struggle comes with the territory, how we move forward and better the situation is up to us. What all began as a side hobby in high school has turned into a beautiful platform where I’ve been able to meet and
surround me with such a beautiful community of friends that I would have never met otherwise.
However, once senior year ended, I was lost and felt I needed to find myself ‘a real job’. I did exactly that, the only thing I found myself
in was emptiness and wanting something more. Finding my way back into content creating was the best thing I could have done to fill up my cup. ‘Proceed with Caution’ is something I keep in the front of my mind when it comes to meeting/being approached by new people that quickly want to become friends.
I’ve had a few too many experiences where individuals wanted to build friendships for the wrong reasons. Many friends/family members have a difficult time understanding what it is I do and not all agree with it. Unfortunately, something that comes along the ride of this journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Definitely consider myself a creative, of course through creating content on a video platform such as YouTube but also branching out with growth in other areas as new things evolve. My love for styling will never lose place in my content. As I grow older, wellness and health have also begun to take center stage.
I try and share the lifestyle of ‘less is more with my followers/viewers as much as possible. As a small reminder that you don’t need a whole laundry list of items to fill you, but to find joy in the small things. Thrifted finds natural skincare, healthy foods that make your body, heart, and soul happy. Friendships and relationships that are everlasting. Finding what’s worth your peace and tuning out noise from the outside world.
Of course, I will always share shopping tips/fashion inspo across my platforms but with the intent of – ‘these are simply ideas, we don’t need it all’. Beyond fitting especially in our current landscape with many struggling in different aspects of their lives. Over time, we’re able to hone in on what’s important to us, what won’t break the bank and where we find our peace.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes! Much of what I just touched on in regards to ‘less is more’ plays a major role with all we had experienced during the days of the pandemic. We as humans were re-introduced to what was important to us, what small things leave the greatest impact.
How we lived our lives previously, in what could have been a frivolous way, I like to believe that finding ourselves in hard times has been able to ground us and leave many of us humbled. To slow down, find our joy, avoid what isn’t worth your peace… that’s what’s important. What’s in front of you (not our phones haha) but family, pets, small assets. Somewhat contradictory since what I do is create content for others to view via phones/computers.
As we chat with these questions, I answer each sitting amongst the snow in a winter wonderland – Canada. Spending much time with family in this part of the world during this has truly shown me to appreciate the little things in life like – family and patience. Once back in San Antonio, I will kiss the ground simply for the warm weather.
