Daily Inspiration: Meet Carmen Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Gonzalez

Hi Carmen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I moved to San Antonio Jan 2021 from San Diego, CA with hopes to slow life down and have income to travel with our family.

We started a YouTube channel to share our new life in Texas as well as homeschool tips/tricks. We had our first Texas baby and fifth child June 2023. Our five children ranged from newborn to 15!

We went on our first family vacation to Disneyworld Dec 2023 our oldest son’s 16th birthday, as well as the rest of our children’s birthdays and Christmas! Those 10 days at Disneyworld were a blast,

We desired to go to Italy next then a Disney Cruise after that!

On Feb 01, 2024 our oldest son tragically passed away leaving us in utter shock and pain. I was 7 months postpartum and exclusively breastfeeding my youngest daughter. My milk ran dry and had to accept donor milk as she adjusted to eating solids while we all navigated grief.

Planning our son’s memorial and not being able to put a bandaid on our surviving four children’s hurting hearts has been the hardest thing my husband and I have endured.

We’ve been told, “the first year is the hardest.” My son’s one anniversary came and went-it’s still all very hard. We’ve all experienced our first birthdays including his, holidays, anniversary without him and it’s out of body experience.

We’re actively going through biblical counseling to help us each bring our sorrows and struggles to light, so we can be prayed over and encouraged.

Our local church, family, friends as well as previous church, family, friends from Cali have been an amazing support to us in indescribable ways.

We have hope, we have joy and putting one step in front of the other each day while trying our best to Glorify God.

The company I work virtually has been extremely flexible. I’m able to work from home while my baby naps and after I’ve homeschooled my children.

Yes, it can be stressful but also so grateful for this healthy distraction while also being able to provide extra income to our household.

My husband and I are thriving in our marriage even after losing a child. I think perspective changes and most things are just not worth fighting over. We choose to remain united and will not let man separate what God has joined together.

We still make shorts for our channel until we’re ready to film longer videos.

We still desire to go to Italy to visit friends stationed there I memory of our son. The Disney cruise will follow.

Our children deserve our best and we strive to give them that as long as we live.

Thank you for reading a piece of my life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. My son’s tragic death shattered us.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hiring manager/Director of Operations for a YouTube Marketing company. I help hire, train and execute systems in the company.
