Daily Inspiration: Meet Astro Current

Today we’d like to introduce you to Astro Current.

Hello Astro Current, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Dennis Avila and I (Miguel Antonio) started playing music together in 2016 (our sophomore year of high school). We started off by playing covers of songs from bands that we looked up to. At first, we started playing music for fun but as time went on, we realized we were capable of writing our own material.

After deciding we wanted to form a band we searched for a drummer for over a year. Eventually, Judas De Leon joined our band which was formerly called TakeOver. At the time, we needed a stronger sound and recruited a second guitar player named Ralphie Barba. After a few months of being a band, we decided it was best to become a trio by moving Ralphie from the second guitar to drums. For a fresh start, we changed our name from TakeOver to Astro Current.

We released our debut album in January of 2021. In September of the same year, we released The Reaper EP. As we get ready for the future we are very excited for upcoming releases, upcoming shows, and future opportunities that await us.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The only struggle we’ve had up to this point was our lineup change in the band. However, we know there will be certain situations in the future that may be obstacles but it won’t be anything we can’t work through.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are most proud of the music we released because we put a lot of time, effort, and hard work into it. We just love to play music and hope to do it for a very long time.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Growing up and discovering new music through our parents and ultimately being inspired by it.
