Daily Inspiration: Meet Angie Macias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Macias

Hi Angie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A foodie turned lifestyle creator.
I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Texas with the immediate family after i graduated high school. Moving into the surrounding areas of San Antonio was definitely a bit difficult at first. I didn’t know where to eat, what places to visit or where to travel to make my 20’s more enjoyable. I soon started cooking a lot more especially during the pandemic when most places were closed. And after a bit i started posting stories on my personal instagram of my “meal prep Mondays” because i was tired of eating the food of the restaurant I was working at the time. I also found myself taking pictures of the restaurants i would eat at when i would go back to California to visit. I also wanted to see what good restaurants there were in the San Antonio area. I started to go more on TikTok and realize that there was a term “foodies” of people that would share restaurants or recipes or just loved food and would share it online. I realized I wasn’t the only person in this situation, not being a local, but looking for some good food to eat. I really didn’t move forward with anything because i was a pretty camera shy person, until on old friend messaged me and she said i really should just start posting because she loved seeing me post my meals and my meal preps. I feel like that was all i needed to really push forward. I ended up making a separate account on instagram and TikTok called @goodeatswithangie. The first video i ever posted was at Noodle Tree on UTSA blvd. Looking back at it now i realized how shy and nervous i was to film in public and even do voice overs. I realized people actually enjoyed that video and i started to do more restaurants videos. After a while, I realize that i also wanted to add more things to my videos. I’ve always wanted to talk about skincare, because of my own skincare journey and wanted to talk about different things like fashion, beauty and different aspects of my life. I decided to turn my foodie account @goodeatswithangie to a lifestyle account @itzangiemacias where I didn’t limit myself to just food but expanded to anything else i wanted to do. I still do love making food videos but I’ve started romanticizing my life that makes every other part of my life fun and enjoyable. I’ve also realize posting videos turned into my way of almost documenting everything. I find so much joy in editing videos and having fun with it. Ive enjoyed sharing my San Antonio finds and hope others who move here and locals enjoy it as well. i hope others can take away from my videos and post those videos they think are silly and most importantly have fun.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely has been ups and downs with moving to San Antonio and have a big culture shock. The culture is definitely very different in central Texas. It was very hard losing the familiarity to places I use to love going to and making friends was a bit difficult because I only worked. But I’m glad doing content has brought me to a community of people who enjoy sharing ideas, places, food and overall is a great community of individuals who support each other !

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently am a manager at a retail store. So doing content is what I do on the side. Finding a good balance is sometimes a bit difficult but the goal is to one day is to make a living off of it and do content full time. I also want to give back to my parents who have always supported me and cared for me these past 24 years.

As much as I like trends and I do participate in I try to keep my content real. I like posting about my family and what my life is like as a first generation Mexican American. I want others to be able to relate to my videos and really feel the authenticity of it all.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To be true to what I want to do. I’ve definitely been so grateful for my family of them being so accepting of me wanting to record EVERYTHING! Before I was always weary of how many views or likes my content would get but now I post for myself and I enjoy making videos ! My family and close friends are always my biggest supporters and always tell me “ you should make a video of this!”. They realized I really do enjoy making, editing and posting videos and I couldn’t be more grateful!
