Daily Inspiration: Meet Amber Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Rodriguez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always loved photography but I got my first camera when my first son was born in 2012. It started off as a hobby and then soon after Amber Denise Photography was born in 2014. I upgraded my equipment and had sessions on the weekends as I was working full-time at a dental office. My business began growing so I decided to go full-time. I recently graduated photography school this year and got my LLC. I have since then been published in various magazines! I never thought my business would become a six-figure photography business. But with lots of hard work and dedication as well as many photography classes my dreams have come true! I now have a studio in my home and have collaborated with a few obgyn offices to display my work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been easy working full time and photography on the side. I was self-taught at first and had no clue what I was doing so I invested in many classes and had several mentors to help me grow. There have been some tough times but I never gave up! My kids motivate to keep pushing and just practice, practice, practice. It takes great discipline to run your own business. I get up early every day and come up with a game plan. I spend a lot of time coming up with new ideas and market myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve always loved art! Photography is my passion because I’m able to tell someone else’s story and preserve their memories for generations. I decided to specialize in maternity and newborn because im a mother myself and I feel motherhood is a blessing and a gift from god. I absolutely love children! My job is to snuggle baby’s everyday!! I recently started doing fine art studio maternity and it’s so fun! I provide all my moms with my client closet full of gowns and accessories. Hair and makeup is also available so they can get pampered and feel like a queen for the day. I’m an all-inclusive photographer so my moms dont have to stress about anything! I offer a luxury experience they will never forget!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid has def changed a lot of things. During covid, it never stopped me from photographing. I decided to offer porch portraits for familys. I would go to their house and stay on the sidewalk to practice safe distancing and use my zoom lens to photograph them during that difficult time. Now they have those photos to look back and remember that crazy scary time. I also learned to do more digital work in photoshop. I would have moms send me photos of their newborn baby’s and I would photoshop then in a digital background so they could have professional photos still. Covid never stopped me from getting creative. But it def made me appreciate in-person sessions.
