Conversations with Stephanie Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Sanchez.

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
San Antonio Stephanie started as a way for me to heal from heartbreak. I went through some traumatic events within a few months’ time several years ago.

I was juggling being a single mom, working 40 hours a week, going to school, dealing with custody issues to protect my children from abuse, a breakup, sickness, and a suicidal mental breakdown. I sat still, I wasn’t really living life or enjoying it.

My best friend at the time encouraged me to start getting out and doing things, to create new memories. I woke up one day and was tired of being sad and crying. We started going to new restaurants, attending events, and posting on Instagram. My goal was to share the things that made ME happy with others in the hopes it would bring them the same happiness. I met a lot of people, connected with the community, business owners, restaurants owners, and listened to their stories.

I developed great relationships throughout and never imagined San Antonio Stephanie would be where it is today. I love connecting with people, giving them hope (as someone who survived domestic abuse) to let people know they are not alone and that if I could get through everything I’ve been through they could too.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road because it is a very competitive market. People who look nice on social media aren’t always nice. That has been the hardest thing to experience in a place we should all be supportive of as we have the same love for our city. It is kind of like high school but worse.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I worked for Wells Fargo for 13 years and was laid off in 2021. San Antonio Stephanie is my side business. I would say I am a social media personality. Yes, I worked with food primarily but there’s more to life than food. I am known for being 100% authentic with my audience. I am known for the realness I serve on my page/stories.

I am known for posting because I enjoyed something, not just because I am getting paid. I am known for my kindness and ability to make my audience laugh. I donate, I volunteer, I care. I take my audience with me in my struggles, my wins, my tears, my dating stories so they feel very connected to me. I receive a lot of “Thank You’ for responding to messages from people because they say so many influencers ignore them or don’t bother to respond.

These are all things I hear from other people and it makes me so happy to know I bring them joy. ALL OF THAT SETS ME APART FROM OTHERS. I am always proud to be included in all of the “Best Of” contests. My little page is amongst someone who has their own TV show and the Beyonce of foodies. It says a lot about how people feel about me and that is awesome.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe luck has anything to do with anything!
