Conversations with Stacey Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Jones.

Hi Stacey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first got into Kpop when my husband who was my boyfriend at the time was stationed in Korea. I loved watching the music videos and fashion styles. I became a fan of the groups Big Bang, 2pm and girls generation. The first group I followed since debut was SHINee. My all-time favorite Kpop group is BTS because I really like the love yourself campaign they started a few years ago. I started cohosting fan events in February of 2020 and started my business towards the end of 2020. I started hosting cupsleeve event and now do Kpop dance nights and other Kpop themed events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles I have faced would be having to explain to some businesses what Kpop is and how it will be beneficial to their business to co-host events at venues.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I basically create an environment where Kpop fans can meet other fans and have a great time. In most cases, people find Kpop by looking at YouTube videos or looking up groups they have seen on TV shows. Most of the time they are the only person around them that likes Kpop. Though social media fans can connect online but at my events, they can do the dance moves from the music videos without being shamed for liking music in a different language.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t think it is luck but more of determination to keep going. Covid has slowed things down but I would have events with limited amounts of people to try my best to keep people safe.
