Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Veretelnik.
Hi Olga, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started with a food truck. People who came to eat there said that my food wasn’t just street food, so we started looking for a location for a restaurant. We opened our first cafe three years ago in Castle Hills. It was something new for me, a new experience, a completely different situation in life. I didn’t know how to cook large quantities of food, I didn’t know how to promote the business, but I learned, and I continue to learn. Now I have two cafes, and I continue to cook high-quality food, which is why I have a small menu. I cook every day; everything is very fresh and homemade. I enjoy doing this, and I am grateful to my customers for their support and great advice. Many of my customers return, which makes me very happy! I cook with love. Now I already have orders for catering and events for medical professionals. And I can also help children in Ukraine, and that gives me wings. I am very grateful that I have this opportunity!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, of course I had a problem with my employees and I had a personal problems
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
’i am a business owner and entrepreneur specializing in authentic Ukrainian cuisine and café operations. I own and manage two Ukrainian cafés in San Antonio, Texas. My focus is on building strong teams, efficient daily operations, and a recognizable brand based on quality, consistency, and cultural authenticity.
I’m known for being very hands-on in my business—from menu development and kitchen processes to staff management, marketing, and customer experience. This approach allows me to maintain high standards and adapt quickly in a competitive market.
What I’m most proud of is building my business independently from the ground up and successfully growing it through discipline, consistency, and community engagement.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine operational structure with heart. I don’t just run cafés—I build sustainable systems, lead by example, and create welcoming spaces that keep customers coming back.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
lived in a small town where everyone knew each other. I often reminisce about my childhood with my mother; there were so many adventures, and I was a child who couldn’t sit still, very creative.
