Today we’d like to introduce you to Nilaya Lopez.
Hi Nilaya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
since i was little i loved performing and entertaining my cousins and close friends. so naturally when i went to my first drag show i fell in love with the art form. ive been in the industry for 15 years. as of recent, my career took a shift from make up artist to social work. ive been with alamo area resource center for 3 years starting off in case management to now being an outreach coordinator for the prevention team.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
as a trans person, i wouldn’t say it’s been extremely difficult as i’ve managed to break down barriers in my everyday work life, but i surround myself with like minded people and my field of work has always mirrored that. my love life is another story lol

as an entertainer performing for ariana grande is still the ultimate highlight and as for social work, i’ve opened this position and have married my night life persona to coincide with ending the hiv epidemic and spreading awareness using my platform for the better
How do you define success?
i don’t let it define me, i choose to be my best version everyday and give myself grace when i need it
