Hi Morgan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello everyone! My name is Morgan. I am a licensed esthetician based in San Antonio, Texas, a proud Latina-owned business that has been in operation since March 2020. In my early twenties, I gained valuable experience working in retail at local department stores. My passion for artistry, alongside a lifelong interest in beauty and makeup, has shaped my career journey.
My mother, a skilled and licensed beauty esthetician, has been my guiding inspiration from the very beginning. Her profession instilled in me the courage to pursue a new path. After dedicating myself to retail, I felt a compelling urge to attend beauty school. In 2018, I enrolled at the Milan Institute, committing a year to honing my skills. Among my classmates, I was one of five who focused on eyelash extensions. I chose to master this skill and took the initiative to teach myself everything necessary. My first year out of school involved working with models and practicing diligently, eventually leading me to fully immerse myself in perfecting my craft.
Now, four years later, I am proud to have my own suite within the Medical Center, where I continue to pursue my passion for beauty and esthetics. How delightful it is to possess a space that I can call my own, a sanctuary for my work!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I previously have collaborated with other women in my field, but unfortunately, those partnerships did not yield successful outcomes. I concluded that establishing my own practice would be the most advantageous path forward. My free-spirited nature sometimes conflicts with established rules and assertive personalities. Nevertheless, this journey has ignited my passion for steering my own ship and taking charge of my professional destiny.
Every business experience resembles a roller coaster, filled with unexpected twists and turns. My first year was particularly eventful, as I launched my venture amidst the pandemic in 2020—certainly an unforeseen challenge. While I was spending my time indoors, I decided to sharpen my skills and not give up. I decided to dive into the world of online content creation, mastering Canva like a champ. Since that initial phase, I have successfully navigated numerous challenges. As a lash technician, it is essential to prioritize the long-term satisfaction of your clients. This involves consistently engaging with them through social media platforms and maintaining open lines of communication.
