Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Buckner.
Hi Marcus, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story? How did you get to where you are today?
In 2023, we started a brand called Alpaca Mic. It began accidentally after I put on a beanie my mother-in-law had made me and realized that it reduced the sounds around me. It was made out of Alpaca fibers from a fiberfill about 5 minutes from my house. I brought the beanie to an engineer friend, and we worked on using it to make an isolation product for microphones. So, after about 4 to 6 months, we had a prototype and a final version to sell online. People love the small size of something that can help them get a better recording that can fit in a backpack!
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
We had to develop several versions of the Alpaca Mic along the way. All of them needed to be more pretty and functional. But eventually, we came up with a sleek design that works well. We also 3D print each one here in Devine, so we have had to overcome obstacles in manufacturing and materials to make sure the product is as good as we want it to be.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My background is in Marketing and Design. My wife and I own our marketing agency, and this new company has sprung up as we run our business. We created websites for service-based businesses and designed Alpaca Mic’s website. Alpaca Mic is different in that we don’t use foam to make the product but use alpaca fibers, which are antimicrobial, antibacterial, don’t absorb moisture, antistatic, and every fiber has a hollow core, making it a great isolator. We love using natural products to help design solutions for creatives.

It makes me happy to see others enjoying our product and liking that we have something new yet to be in the market. I enjoy music, and hearing a well-recorded song makes me very happy.
