Conversations with Lauren Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Garcia.

Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lauren Garcia and I’m the voice behind the San Antonio Moms Network. Not only am I a mom, a sales professional (day job) and now a community builder!

The San Antonio Moms Network is part of a larger national platform called The Local Moms Network, which was created 100% by moms, for moms. The mission is simple: to give moms the gift of time.

The Local Moms Network connects women in their communities through accessible online resources like curated event calendars, local business spotlights, parenting guides, monthly newsletters, and social media engagement.

We want moms to be able to log on and find everything they need! From a last minute pediatric dentist to the best playgrounds and weekend events. But it’s more than just convenience, it’s about building community, encouraging connection, and celebrating motherhood at every stage.

I actually found out about it through my boss at my day job, she runs the Katy Moms Network in Houston. I had been following her journey and was completely inspired by the way she built a local resource for moms while balancing her career and family life. The more I watched what she was doing, the more I felt this tug to bring something similar to San Antonio. I thought: Why don’t we have this here? and here we are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it’s been a great experience! HOWEVER, like any venture, it comes with its own set of challenges.

I’d say the biggest struggle has been managing the all the events an in San Antonio and all the surrounding areas.

There’s always something going on, which is amazing for families, but as a one woman team, it can be really time consuming to sift through, verify, and organize everything.

I put a lot of care into making sure the information I share is accurate, timely, and helpful. That means late nights researching, double checking dates, and sometimes updating posts on the fly.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At its core my work with the San Antonio Moms Network is about connection. I create a trusted, go to platform for local families looking for things to do, I curate content that makes life easier, and more joyful, for moms.

I think what I’m most known for showing up as a real mom in the trenches too. I’m not just sharing resources,

One of the things I’m most proud of is hearing from other moms who say, “I didn’t even know this event was happening until I saw it on your page!” or “Thanks for making weekends easier!”

How do you define success?
I think for me, success in this line of work isn’t measured by numbers or followers, it’s about impact.

I define success as creating a space that truly serves moms at every stage of motherhood. Whether someone is navigating the sleepless nights of a newborn, raising teens, or preparing to send their child off to college. Parenting never really ends. And neither should the support.

If a mom in San Antonio feels a little more connected, a little less overwhelmed, or finds something valuable because of what I’ve shared, that’s a win. My goal is community, encouragement, and a reminder that they’re not alone. That’s what success looks like to me.
