Today we’d like to introduce you to J’Erica & Jazmine Gaytan.
Hi J’Erica & Jazmine; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Someone once said, “Do what you love, and you never work a day in your life.” Well, that’s what the Gaytan sisters have done from day one. “At a young age, we both knew we had to invest time, money, and above all, passion into our careers,” said Jazmine Gaytan, owner of Studio Bonita. “Both of our journeys started at the San Marcos High School, where J’Erica was granted a scholarship to Baldwin Beauty School in 2009. I began cosmetology in its first year being offered at the High School in 2014.” Even though they graduated from cosmetology school at different times, they both knew nails were their passion and traveled to California to expand their knowledge of nails. Now Studio Bonita has been voted “Best Nail Care Salon In Hays County” for the 2nd year in a row. We hope to continue to serve our community with quality work in nail care services and include more services in the future, said J’Erica & Jazmine, Owners of Studio Bonita.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening Studio Bonita has been challenging. We started as home nail technicians and knew we wanted to grow and open a salon one day. That day came in 2021 when we opened Studio Bonita; along with the winter storm in 2021; we had to delay our opening and remodel the “remodel” inside our salon due to a frozen pipe that busted and flooded half of the salon. It has been a challenging road. However, it makes it that much more special to us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My sister J’Erica and I are Nail technicians; we specialize in Acrylic nails with detailed nail art and crystal placements. We’re proud to say we are San Marcos locals and have won Best nail care in hays county for the past 2 years.
Any big plans?
We plan on expanding studio Bonita, which started as a one-woman show and has now transformed into a multi-service salon. We hope to expand and allow more beauty professionals into the Studio Bonita team.
