Today we’d like to introduce you to Janie Terrazas.
Hi Janie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pain is multifaceted, and so are we. Like many, I did not know how much my past impacted me in the present until my entire world came crashing down in the Spring of 2016. This unconscious trauma fully rose to the surface when my husband and business partner said, “I’m lost, I don’t know who I am. I need to find myself,” the quintessential mid-life crisis scenario. Months later, betrayals surfaced, and he made it clear he had no desire to change and grow. Luckily, I had already done extensive spiritual and self-introspection work while married. Different healing modalities and spiritual teachings began to expand and deepen my perspective on the meaning of life and the healing power of unconditional love.
The split initiated my “Dark Night of the Soul”, a spiritual term used to describe the ultimate breakdown-breakthrough catalyst. It’s the death of the old wounded self, which must occur before the empowered whole self can emerge.
I was fully committed to my self-love journey and embodying peace.
I spent a lot of time contemplating and meditating. I was determined to discover the causes of my self-sabotaging patterns and limiting belief structures that kept me stuck in the paradigm of pain and suffering, especially in intimate relationships. I learned why I minimized red flags, justified emotional/mental pain, and found a way to accept it and blindly live with it in partnerships. This lack of discernment also showed up in my professional life. I acknowledged my deep subconscious wounds and began to heal the old ways of thinking, feeling, and being. I started to see how the mental, emotional, physical, sexual, and spiritual trauma I endured could be used as fuel for my divine purpose here on earth.
Now I passionately and fearlessly share my testimony and this sacred mind-body-heart-soul transformational knowledge with others so they, too, can free themselves of everything and everyone that is hindering their well-being.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Overcoming my sex trauma wounds and the fawning responses was an arduous process. Living in Los Angeles and working in the entertainment industry didn’t help. It had its struggles, especially concerning body image and sexual misconduct. Another pitfall was unknowingly marrying a covert narcissist. We were together for ten years and the abrupt ending took a toll on me. Having to face his betrayals and abandonment was one of the most challenging things I’ve endured and had to overcome. We also had a business together, so everything I had built and envisioned for our future came crashing down. I had to rebuild myself, and my career.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

The proud question is hard to answer because I’m very proud of the mindfulness work I’ve done with teachers, children, and parents through the GoLoveNow Organization; however, the following had the most significant impact on the trajectory of my life. So, I would have to say I’m most proud that I have always followed my heart regarding what I did for a living. Despite all the fears from family and friends, I walked away from a lucrative corporate career in 2000, sold my house, packed up my Ford Explorer, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of becoming a TV/Radio host and professional fitness model. I accomplished my goals and worked professionally in broadcasting, production, and fitness for 12 years.
In 2012, I got the nudge to move back to Texas. Not long before then, I had a “spiritual awakening,” which led me to shift my focus on the wellness & coaching industry. Because I listened to my heart, I’ve been able to assist more people in ways I never imagined I would.
This is how my mindfulness media endeavor came to be. I was yearning to bridge my coaching expertise with my creative talents and RiseAboveTV was born. The mission is to empower humanity and support unity by creating content that inspires, educates, and empowers individuals to live and love mindfully and optimally.
What makes me unique in my field?
This was a divine calling I surrendered to, not a profession I sought to do. When I moved back to Texas, I was guided to shift gears. I felt God was encouraging me to study a wide variety of subject matter that would lead me to understand the micro and macro connection to life. There were also certifications I was being directed towards. As I was learning, I was healing and evolving.
In time, I could assess a person’s challenges, or relationship struggles, from a holistic 360-degree perspective. My intuitive connection and the wisdom I gained through personal hardships play a significant role in my coaching practice. Thanks to the above, I can review the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical stressors someone faces and quickly pinpoint the origin, saving them a lot of time. I also instinctively understand how to create a safe, non-judgmental space for people to open up, plus I naturally bring levity to brevity. I use practical and playful methods to help my clients reclaim their wholeness, peace, and vitality.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
