Conversations with Goco Barrera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Goco Barrera

Hi Goco, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Gocogoes.com begins with the end of my life and a new beginning. I was an adolescent, young and hopeless, but curious. My Curiosity drove me to try something new, to climb down the cliffs of La Joya Beach and ride the waves.

I was young and hopeless, but curious.

The waves took me and I nearly drowned. Swept away like clothes in a washing machine.

After losing consciousness briefly, I regained myself on the beach. Water became a powerful symbol of life, death, and rebirth that day.

Soon After that moment, I had a dream. A dream of fire. In obscurity, a great abyss, cold. But a fire began to illuminate. I was the fire. My light and heat, are symbols of my passion and curiosity of life. The fire began to rise and grow and glow. More fires appeared. We grew together. Eventually our light overcame the obscurity.

That day I woke up, and I knew I needed to do more and see more and learn.

Gocogoes.com is about giving people a chance to experience extraordinary moments abroad. We are about making cultural immersion accessible to adults who always wanted to travel authentically.

A chance for us to grow and live life abundantly without having to worry about the unknowns that come with international travel.

Those life experiences drove me to travel to many countries, to learn and understand culture from the local perspectives.

I lived as a student, as a tourists, as a professional. Collaborating with organizations such as the US Peace Corps, Engineers Without Borders, Traveling Doctors, and more.

I am excited about what I do because we are beginning a new membership program that we designed to make our trips much more affordable and improve guest impact in what we do.

Our members enjoy trips at a discount of hundreds of dollars per trip, plus they can attend exclusive workshops to customize and build their own immersive trips that we sponsor on our site.

Some upcoming trips include a six-day trip to Xochimilco to learn about Food Sovereignty from Indigenous peoples working the floating gardens.

And

A 14-day trip to Costa Rica to learn about Ecological Conservation, to observe what national park rangers and ecological conservationists do. in 3 distinct ecosystems.(a volcano, cloud forest, and a costal mangrove forest)

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh no! Jajaja

Gocogoes.com began as a feeling. An itch in the back of my mind telling me to a vision board. And. So I began to ponder, and ponder, and ponder more. Eventually I decided I was good at traveling. At creating adventures and living life in the moment blending thoughtful consideration and planning with impulsive wanderlust.

But I had to find a way to turn that passion into a real job.

And so I had to learn about all of the hats an entrepreneur wears. Web design, marketing, sales, logistics, project management, customer relations, taxes, business processing, and so much more.

No in my 3rd year, I feel great! We have lots of momentum, and I just have to figure out the marketing. and so we are here jajaja.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create magical life experiences. a chance to forget about the horse race and to be.

I unveil the curtain to show the true simplicity of life and the beauty that comes from it.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
