Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Levin.
Hi Daniela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Mini Memo started pretty simply. I was just looking for something creative to do in my free time that could also bring in a little extra income for my family.
One night I was scrolling through TikTok and came across a video of someone making photo magnets. It immediately caught my attention because it looked fun, hands-on, and something I knew I could learn. I mentioned it to my husband, and after a long chat and a lot of research, I decided to give it a try.
At first, I didn’t tell anyone else what I was doing. I wanted to make sure I was ready before sharing it. Once I finally got my first machine and figured out my process, I surprised my friends and family by giving each of them a custom photo magnet. That was really how I introduced Mini Memo to everyone. The feedback was incredible and that gave me the confidence to keep going.
I began applying to local markets, and once I got my first few events, I started messaging businesses, local organizations, and anyone who might host a pop-up or community event. One market led to another, which led to another, and along the way I met so many amazing people who connected me to new opportunities and helped Mini Memo grow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a difficult road, but it definitely comes with its challenges. Balancing a full-time job, a family, and a small business can be a lot at times, and I’ve had moments where I wonder if I’m giving enough attention to everything.
Social media has also been a challenge. I’m still learning as I go, trying to keep up with new trends and figuring out how to build a real presence. It really is its own job, but I try to just have fun with it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Mini Memo, I create custom photo magnets using the pictures people send me directly from their phone. Each magnet is handmade from start to finish, and at markets and events, I make them right on the spot. People get to watch the whole process and see their photo turn into a magnet within minutes. Seeing their reaction is my favorite part.
I’ve met so many wonderful people and heard their stories. I try to connect with every customer, not just take an order and move on. Sometimes I help them choose the right photo or talk through their ideas, and it becomes more than just a sale. That connection is what makes me most proud, especially when they come back or send someone new my way.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t just about numbers or sales. When someone tells me how much they love their magnet or shares how meaningful it is to them, that feels like success to me.
I also see success in the fact that I’ve built this from the ground up while working full-time and raising two teenage boys. It hasn’t always been easy, but i’ve learned to keep going, take it one step at a time, and not compare my success to anyone else’s.
