Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Newman.
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After working and studying sales and business I took the leap of getting my license to become a stylist. The salon industry intrigued me, so much so I managed several successful Salons in town before really deciding to focus on my craft and hone in what I was passionate doing. After the birth of my first daughter, I promised myself to be involved with all family aspects of my life and not miss any moments big or small. During the pandemic I had my epiphany, I opened my own private salon studio nestled in Alamo Heights and hit the ground running, specializing in creative blonding and styling.
My main focus was creating an atmosphere to not only make your hair dreams come true but also bring knowledge of the everchanging industry to my clients from consulting to introducing new products and methods of color applications. Now a few years later with the upcoming arrival of my second daughter, I’m shifting gears to build out a space of my own in the future, to open doors to other stylist mama’s that want to remain creative and tailor their schedules to include important moments in their families lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first few years were definitely rocky, as young hairstylists, we struggle finding our perfect salon home. After all, it’s really important to love where you work, it feeds your creativity. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if I’d make it past the 5-year mark of working in this industry.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creative blonding and styling. I want my clients to be able to recreate their finished looks at home, I work hard and am patient on teaching blowdrying and curling techniques, as well as proper product and brand knowledge tailored to fit each client’s wants and needs.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
So many mentors I’ve met through life. The biggest credit I give is to other stylists I’ve met along the way, we have all grown off each other. My clients are my #1 support, they have been through it all with me and I’m so beyond appreciative.
